I understand that this is how thw women of Iraq and Iran and Afghanistan dress.
But then think about all the muslim women of the world, (including myself),
this IS NOT Sharia law, but the countries law.

No where in the Quran does it say you should conform and all dress the same. There are different ways to have Hijab not just the Burqa.

As a muslim girl myself, I wear the hijab (for my modesty) but at the same time I have style in my clothes, I mix and match outfits, and im one the best dressed from my friends (not my own words)
It might surprise you but I wear skirts, jeans, tops, jumpers, whilst making sure the clothes are modest and not tight and still wear my hijab on top in the way a Muslim woman is supposed to.

This link will prove my point.

So don't dont base what one country does on a whole religion.

The religion ISthe problem here. Islam is dangerous and toxic hate. They would throw me head first off a building for being gay.Β sharia law in the west will never happen, we choose freedom, not a cancerous cult.Β

Thats disgusting I can see the skin of her hand and wrist!!
Her lack of modesty in this area has filled me with sexually deviant desires and I can't control myself! Oh wait, I'm not a fundamentalist muslim (or any kind) - relax ladies, your safe.

Put it this way... this is not the way to show respect for God or for one's fellow human beings.

Think about it... all of the burqas are pretty much the same - such is the conformity inculcated in that society. What's the point of the salesperson showing a selection of virtually identical items, all of which are intended to enforce anonymity?

shsn In reply to 1389AD [2008-10-29 01:59:29 +0000 UTC]

still weird...
is this deviation trying to say that these people who wear burqas are weird or something?

Not weird... but yes, I do object to burqas. I have nothing against dressing modestly, but on the other hand, I cannot accept the idea of treating females as an object of shame.

Not only the women themselves, but also babies born to women who wear burquas during pregnancy and nursing, are at a high risk of rickets due to lack of sunlight. This includes both boy and girl babies.

but that is their life style, if they do not object to it, do we have the right to object it?

Oppression is wrong in those countries but if someone choses to wear ceratin clothing that are cultural or religious, then who the heck are you to tell them that they are wrong?

... ok, well back to this picture. There is no point in that salesman showing off that specific burqa and pretending like it's different from the rest. I got it... it's not hard.

Yes... the last I checked, the First Amendment is still in effect, and if I think that people are engaging in a practice that is harmful, I have the right to point that out. Whether they listen or not is up to them. Oh, and by the way, you can be sure that people in other parts of the world have no inhibitions about criticizing us any time they feel like it. I don't have a whole lot of patience with political correctness - that approach is intended to serve a set of agendas that are harmful to me and to everything I hold dear.

you can say what you want. Yes, that is true, but ridiculing their entire life style? That is just wrong. you can do what ever you want, just don't say or do anythign you wouldn't want other to do to you

Marahuta In reply to shsn [2012-01-17 17:08:59 +0000 UTC]

it's not their life style. Men just think that seeing any piece of skin of a woman might turn them on. Women in most of those regions are seen as sexual corrupters of men. So they make wear those things so that you can't even look at the eyes. People are basically so horny in those areas that unless they put women under tents they can't keep their dicks down.
