This is the last drawing in a series of people that I am paying homage to. Russell was a teacher of mine who put a human face to art, I great artist himself, thanks Russ!

that is absolutely amazing, i love the solemn expression on his face... deep in thought... perhaps analyzing his next subject for a painting or drawing or something... he has a very deep gaze... i love how you played with the lighting, how you can just make out his silouhette on the dark side and you can just see the top edge of his right (my left) eye...
excellent work...
oh yah... the pencil adds a really nice finished texture to it and i find it to be very emotive (though nothing much seems to be happening in the picture) as a direct result of it being b/w (obviously... pencil)... personally i find that black and white is far more emotive than color...

I'm not all that gifted with words, so all I can say is wow, over and over again. Your work is almost exactly what I have been trying to reach for years, and I'm still far from it. It great to know that it can be reached. I'm also curious as to were you go from the point your at, I mean, not many reach the point your at. Well, best of luck and fortune my friend.
P.S. Its a big, BIG, thing to ask, and you probably get asked this alot but, if you aren't to busy with life, maybe you could comment and give a pointer or two on one of my pictures, Hawaiian Child, it would be awesome. heh

It's really brilliant work like this that inspires me to move out of my own element of photography and try my hand at traditional art. This is quite possibly the best realistic drawing I have ever seen here on DA, *sigh* Armin, this is beautiful.

great! it would be wrong to say this picture looks good, because it does more - it lives. it transports the personality of the portrayed (or at least as much as i would be able to grasp if i had been around him for some time in real life). i see a lot of pride in his face. you definately have managed to pay tribute to him. absolutely pro stuff.

I look at this picture almost every day and think of something to say about it .. but absolutely all the comments go under what i wish i could say about it.. I have one question though.. The shirt baffles me .. it looks like it was done in reverse rather than dark shading. Its perfect .. Just curious to how it was done .. Thank you again for sharing ..
