Description “For God and Country”

Pencil on Acid Free Illustration Board

22” x 30”

This work is part of an on going series called “Neo-Fossil. Inspired by fossils, their shape, their texture and history.

In this work, I am reacting to man’s continuing preoccupation at killing and dying for God and Country. I do this by representing a synthesis of religious, social and anatomical images. I try to bear witness to that moment when the next tenant of this planet finds proof of our existence, in the form of fossils. This is not a fatalistic view, but a deep respect for the powers of nature (e.g. God) to reclaim and recreate.

Thanks Nimra

Reminds me from H.R.Giger's works! (except there are no alien penises or anything like that in it! )
Great work!

That´s amazing. Both in handicraft and visually, this is really good. I especially like what´s going on in the bottom half of the picture, where it seems to be fading away almost into abstraction.

A for sure.

Ehem. I will fave it once I find the bottom. I´m currently at a iMac in school, and they mess up this page very badly...

Armin, You know I always love your work This is an instant

I feel so unartistic lately, just don't feel like drawing at all. Maybe be it'd the stress from school work , maybe I'm just lazy....

Have you experienced the same thing before?

Hello Isabel is nice to hear from you.

I love your new drawing, its beautifully rendered, I am also a big football (soccer) fan, I played seriously in the states for fifteen years, till injury, and old age, closed that chapter.

Thank you for your nice comment on For God and Country, as you know, I like to alternate the straightforward portrait work with the more conceptual endeavors. And I an constantly working toward a combination the two.

I don’t usually have slumps like the one you mentioned, but I do have days when I don’t want to draw, usually I just go to the studio anyway drink five cups of my horribly strong self-brewed coffee and it starts to jell. (On the weekends that might be beer)

I finally have a website, please check it out, let me know what you think?

Thank you

Armin

No words....
you got a lot of respect from me, for the quality of this, and also yes, your thoughts on it...
yea, that's what comes to my mind: respect. Your description is simple, brief, and I don't know if I interpret it the same way you were thinking when you were typing it, but one thing is sure is that I absolutely like this piece.

I really like this peice. Before I read the description i tried to interpret it. Its interesting how the idea of God and the Antichrist are present in this picture... it is like the mark of the beast on the forhead, as well as the horns on the head and the lack of anything in his eyes, and yet he is hung on the cross with the crown of thorns... the fact that the spine is showing near the bottom is important as well, because it exposes the central nervous system that is vital for functioning, and it is almost like there is no heart. He is inhuman. This is really interesting. You put alot of thought into your work, and it produces a masterpiece each and every time. Very well done. Sorry for being so long-winded, and i really admire your work.
