Description “ Shattered”

Three pencil drawing framed separately, drawings one and three (8” x 8”) drawing two (8” x 14”)

This is the completed triptych titled “Shattered”. This is how it would be presented; I have posted the first and second drawings (panels) separately. The third drawing works within the triptych but it is so much like the first one I decided not to bore anyone by posting it separately.

Without getting in too much of an explanation there is a nod towards the crucifixion, and an altarpiece, But with an object we are familiar with, but just sweep away without ever really looking.

Thank you

PS still working on “Name of the Father” it should be done in a week or so.

Loving the concept! I see it as destroying a fragile idea....but then, I see analogies in everything so just don't mind me. Great work

I quite doubt anyone would find another of your submissions to be boring Even if there are similarities. Post away!

Anyway, just... freakishly good job

Thanks for posting this as a final. I was thinking "nod to crucifiction" + "nod to cobblestones/stone walls" = "subliminal background hint" for triptych. It works for me!

Interesting concept development. I think the rock overhead ...........I mean the Crucifiction was brought about by God and all those comments about Jews killing Christ..............Christ ended His own life, and the whole thing was set in action by God, so the rock overhead, coming as it were from the sky, or the heavens.............
and then there is the idea of light coming from and dwelling within both lightbulbs and...........

Perhaps not the concept you had in mind but art has a way of suggesting many different ideas to different people. I look forward to the piece's completion.

well you know i have you fave this, its too good to go unfaved , is there anything you cant draw like a photo? i love the concept truly inspireational simplistic yet the sear complexity of the drawing makes it more than broken light bubls.

You remind me of Asher, from the book "My name is Asher Lev." He was always drawing the crucifiction for his gallery shows. Only problem was, he was a Jew.... it's a great book about Artists and their Struggles.

Really?? Wonderful!! An English teacher gave it to me when I was in grade school (wow, that was a long time ago) because I was always drawing things that were at odds with my parent's religious beliefs. I found it very enlightening. I think any artist who loves art so much they'd steal a pencil if that's what it took for them to draw would relate to Asher's artistic soul. Can't wait for you to read it; please, when you find the time, be sure to tell me what you thought of it after you do, I'm eager for your opinion.

It’s a wall that all, its not meant to be the art, maybe it’s a cheap shitty wall, get over it.

in my op it would look far more classy with just white

u might aswell chuck osme lense flares in there aswell
maybe filters/render/clouds?

lol

your work is far too impressive to be housed by cheap photoshop filters

The central piece makes me laugh a little, because it reminds me of the Sword of Damocles (I imagine the rock following the light bulb everywhere it goes). But the work is exquisite, and somehow the three put together seem strangely meaningful.
