Description
Shattered I8” x 8” pencil on hot press board.
This is a small pencil drawing of a smashed light bulb. Set up as a still life with low lighting and a low view (worm eye) this was a very interesting drawing to execute. This is only the first part of a diptych type presentation. Thank you

Ah, a lightbulb drawing... I haven't seen one of these in a very long time... but, anyway...
Might I say, this is extremely impressive. I find it quite hard to get some aspects of a lightbulb just right, but you captured the actual... "essence" that makes this picture whole. Since the lightbulb is shattered into many pieces, this drawing really makes you look at each piece and gives it more of a dynamic edge, as compared to if it was a whole lightbulb. The shading is magnificent to be simple, and the lighting is also extrodinary. The progression from draft to this must have been quite a lot of work, but it is good to see some superb penciling from yo now and then.
The reflection in the broken pieces is most... convincing that you are indeed a master of the drawing pencil (to normal people anyway). You could actually stare into the drawing for a very long time, but then you would start asking rhetorical questions... Anyway, fascinating drawing. Truly, it is a smashed lightbulb to be proud of. Good luck on your finished version, it will indeed seem and look great, according to schedual.

It almost looks like someone just took a picture and played in PS a little bit to make it look drawn.

Egads! I know that every time I see a new work of yours pop up in my watched deviants list that it is going to be mind-numbingly amazing, and yet my jaw drops still. It blows my mind. I love the subtle changes in shading to show the difference between the glass and the tabletop without drawing a line. The sheen on the glass is so incredibly intricate, too!
