Description
Shattered I8β x 8β pencil on hot press board.
This is a small pencil drawing of a smashed light bulb. Set up as a still life with low lighting and a low view (worm eye) this was a very interesting drawing to execute. This is only the first part of a diptych type presentation. Thank you

Beautiful reflection in the shatter. I like the range of values. Very detailed too, and I like the concept for this piece, as well as the larger theme "Elegy to a Shattered Lighbulb".

Armin, I made a wise crack about your ability to draw on a smaller scale on Isabelchaing's page!!! I owe you an apology...I thought the reason your drawings looked so impressive was due to their large scale!!
I never considered myself to be an "artist"...I thought of myself as some guy who could draw a nice picture ( an Illustrator )...I have NEVER been the artsy type and I found those sorts to be annoying.( like the people who paint crying clowns and landscapes)....I think THAT(content) is what is missing from all my work....I'd like to read comments that say more than" it looks like a photo"....perhaps strike an emotion of some kind!!! I'll bet I can pull it off..
I will study your works much closer, maybe I can absorb what you've injected into your works!!
I've made 42 trips around the sun...I'm not far behind you my friend!

Thank you Pat, I read your words on Isabelβs page and no offence taken, but I thank you for the Apology. You know we are all just struggling to get better with each piece, and DA is a quagmire of digital/computer images, we must hold together and fly the flag of traditional art. Art should always be about some kind of emotional rant, it should say more than, damn I can draw well, even if that emotion is just βwowβ I am moved by that shadow on the wall and I want to share that with the viewer.
Your work is wonderful and created with integrity I hope mine is perceived with the same spirit. Keep on my friend.

but then i saw your title and it had "drawing" in it
and i FREAKED OUT. i kid you not.
this looks like a PHOTO.
i am SO impressed this is incredible
it is VERY hard to get the shading and the light reflections right on this kind of thing.. i've tried
i applaud you

Hello Armin
I love this piece. Fascinating combination of realism and abstraction. Some of those lost edges really pulled me into the piece! Beautiful interaction of light and shadow, reflection and transparency.
Such an exceptional eye, exceptional vision and amazingly exceptional skill you have. I continue to aspire.

Your attention to realism and detail is wonderful! I love how the reflection in the glass shows the enviorment. Great job! I'd love to see you do something sci fi ish kind of like MC Esher style. I wonder what youd come up with.
