He wasn’t supposed to be in this room. Yin wasn’t expecting him here, but he was sitting so casually on that seat you might have been forgiven to think otherwise. The room was small, only one couch facing the door, only one table, a few cushions on the other side for more people to sit if they wanted. Li’s family had been instructed what rooms were and weren’t accessible to them. This was not one of them. Yin frowned, thankful her veil covered her face as much as it did.
“Prince Li..”
“Princess Yin.” Li cut her off, smiled to her, sitting up properly in order to bow to her. He was acting as pleasant as always. She returned the bow but remained in the entrance way.
“I do not believe your family had been given access to this part of the Palace. You should not go somewhere your family does not know about..” Yin would rather not have to bring him back to his family. But she was sure he’d feign ignorance and say he wouldn’t know his way back so she has to guide him. Truth be told she’d been avoiding seeing anyone of the Wei Family, other than Li who’s personally been trying to speak with her more and more frequently as the days have gone by.
“Really? And what about you?”
Yin paused, confused, it wasn’t the answer she’d expected and she didn’t know what that meant either. Whatever it was she was about to find out. But she didn’t want to be standing in an open doorway having this conversation. So instead she took a step inside and closed the door behind her. Turning back to Li she found he was no longer sitting, but now standing and motioning to the seat he’d had. That gentle smile on his face made her stomach twist again.
“What do you mean ‘about me?’” Her voice was even, hiding whatever nervousness she was feeling as she walked over and sat down on the seat. Li sat down across the table, on one of the cushions with his back to the door. She now realized her mistake in sitting here. He was more or less blocking her exit by having her sit on the couch.
“You should not go somewhere your family does not know about. You enter a different realm constantly. And on your own.“ Prince Li pointed out, even now he had that smile. “That realm is where you meet your current suitor, correct?”
“Kardia does currently live there, yes. As do the other friends I have made in Mahou. It is not odd for someone to visit those who they are well acquainted with. And while I have informed my parents of my visits to that realm, I am one of the Seasons Dragons, you know as well as I do that I am not in need of protection or an entourage.” Yin tried to keep herself from speaking in a way that might offend Li, or even hint at hostility. But this entire situation was making her uneasy.
“And if what I heard was right, you’ve been visiting this “Mahou” realm for a few months correct?”
“Y..yes?..” Yin was trying hard to keep herself from asking him why it mattered to him. She knew the answer as to why he was questioning about Mahou Wando. His family had probably realized she was spending so much time there, leaving them no option to try and get Prince Li to be closer to her. Him coming here was probably their idea as well now that she thought about it..
“So you have gotten to understand what that place is like as well, then.”
“Yes?.. Prince Li what are you-” Yin’s voice was cut off as she saw Li bowing low, with his hands on the floor.
“Then I have a request for you Princess Yin; would you please allow me to accompany you to this other realm next time you visit there. I wish to see it with my own eyes. I wish to see why you spend your days over there.” Prince Li lifted himself from the bow, smiling so brightly.
This was not what she’d been expecting. She’d expected Li to question why she doesn’t want to stay in her own home. Or even maybe suggest she only goes there because her “Current Suitor” is there and will have to stop when Li confidently proclaims they will be engaged soon. Or that his family is worried of 'rumors' spreading that the second daughter of Seasons Pass leaving their realm permanently. Or even say that she will be banned from going to Mahou if this continues.
She was so confused by this that she didn’t know how to respond. And only until after she felt her sleeves being held by Prince Li’s hands did she actually realize that he’d moved from his spot and now was in front of her; on his knees, looking up at her expectantly for her answer she had yet to think of.
“W..Why?..” Yin couldn’t keep the confusion out of her voice, nor the shakiness her voice had. She was glad she only had to ask that one word.
“I want to see what pleases you so, over there.” He looked up at her with that bright smile, a sparkle in his eyes that she’d never seen. “I want to see it too. Will you please let me come visit that world with you?”
And what was she supposed to answer..?
