(Proper title: "Chell [Redacted] - Test Subject #1498)

Who’s played Portal 2 yet? Pretty much everyone?
It’s pretty damn good.

One of my favourite moments in Portal 1 was when you realised (looking through your own portals) that you are playing as this girl, Chell (pronounced like ‘bell’, not ‘shell’ apparently).

Normally if you play a female lead, games aren’t very subtle about it – but with Portal you could of gone the whole game without knowing that and it’ll make no difference. And in her strange silent ways I think that’s what makes her such a great character – she could be anything.

I’ve recently been obsessing over the detail put into Portal 1 and 2, especially with Valve’s ‘Alternate Reality Games‘ they added to bridge the first and second game. This naturally led to a Portal themed picture. There’s been quite a bit of fanart already, so I thought I’d focus more on Chell herself essentially being a prisoner of Aperture Science. She’s just a little beaten up after some testing.

Bonus: I also did a variant with Source Engine style eyes…

You're not the first to say that about the 3DS - I think the image is too low quality for the 3DS. It seems to be working for mobile phones though (either way you're not missing out much)

Yeah I saw that one - the one with Rattman. Quite cool wasn't it? Got a bit of a surprise when I saw my picture in the middle though, I wasn't aware then!

I thought the same when I played portal the first time. I was impressed because female leads in games aren't really subtle about the whole "being female" thing, and Chell I think is one of the greatest female protagonist in a long time.

this is so amazing and beautiful... i like how you try to make her face more realistic and more "her" than happy or cute or what not. She's a tough woman, and this image doesn't watter that down in the slightest.

The lighting helps to make her stand out all the more.

I had to remind myself what I put there... they're based on the boxes of 'test subjects' you see at the very beginning of the game as wheatley moves your room.

After checking the original again, it says:

So far I've only finished the first installment of Portal, and again, I'm amazed at Valve's creation efforts. It feels HL even though this is the opposing bidding and cutting edge science labs. I especially enjoyed the powerpoint presentation that shows the graphics and corporate comparison of ASL and BM., not to mention the zanny ending with GLaDOS singing and typing maybe BM could help you..that was a joke fat chance!....I hope they come with an HL3 that ties together even more the continuation of the Portal Storm Wars and opposition to the Combine. Having read a bit about the story background of Half Life and Aperture Science, it'll be awesome in my opinion that they made a movie or movies about them...I'm intrigued on what will happen to Chell once I begin Portal 2, for it seems something dragged her while looking at the temporary destruction of GLaDos 1.0, lol...awsome render capturing the spirit of tiredness but determination to eventually escape..Maybe she could form a team with Alyx and Gordon???...heh!...perhaps Mr.G-Man will put her in stasis after noticing that she could also be of help...the right gal at the wrong place can make all the difference in the world...if the timeline is aproximate...Portal events take place around the same time when Gordon had his little fun-time at BM...I guess time will tell...

Thanks The QR code is machine-readable, revealing a little bit more about the piece... so is the barcode, but it's too small on this export to be scanned.

Anyway, it's all a bit of novelty fun!

The detail in this is amazing. And I like how you didn't make her... well. Pretty? She really does look like a woman who runs around testing chambers all the time, sweating, getting her hair messed up, and that cut on her lip just seals the deal. This is truly amazing.

While I like the prettier model they have for Portal 2, my initial thought was that she was too pristine... so I made her tired looking a bit beat up!

Oh I agree with you 100% on her new model for Portal 2. I mean sure she's been sleeping all that time but she should suit the world she's thrown into; Portal 2 is anything but pretty by cleanliness standards I mean just look at what Wheatley does to the place...
