Who’s played Portal 2 yet? Pretty much everyone?
It’s pretty damn good.
One of my favourite moments in Portal 1 was when you realised (looking through your own portals) that you are playing as this girl, Chell (pronounced like ‘bell’, not ‘shell’ apparently).
Normally if you play a female lead, games aren’t very subtle about it – but with Portal you could of gone the whole game without knowing that and it’ll make no difference. And in her strange silent ways I think that’s what makes her such a great character – she could be anything.
I’ve recently been obsessing over the detail put into Portal 1 and 2, especially with Valve’s ‘Alternate Reality Games‘ they added to bridge the first and second game. This naturally led to a Portal themed picture. There’s been quite a bit of fanart already, so I thought I’d focus more on Chell herself essentially being a prisoner of Aperture Science. She’s just a little beaten up after some testing.
Bonus: I also did a variant with Source Engine style eyes…

It does sort of bother me how in Portal 2 it seems as though Chell doesn't have eyelids. Great picture, every detail is gorgeous.

On the card she has, what does it say because I noticed she had some squares shaded and lines shaded. Is it possible to scan the scanner bar with the computer?

There's lots of small details there, I should upload a bigger shot of just the card at some point. It's basically her testing statistics. Both the QR code and the barcode work, but the barcode is too small to scan on this size!

Ahaha, I love the painterly style in this, and Chell's expression. Makes you wonder just what the hell GLaDOS said just then to get that face out of her.
Love the eyes especially (the source engine eyes one creeps me out), and they really convey a lot of emotion here.

Yeah sorry I haven't made that 100% clear. It's the 'Ch' bit I'm talking about. It doesn't sounds like "Shell" with a shh sound, it's more harsh like "Kell" or "bell". It's hard to type!

This is fantastic! The expression's perfect and the anatomy's spot-on, especially in the hands.
And I love the fact that the protagonist was a woman, too. In most games with female leads they're either cute kultzes or vixens with barely anything on, but Chell was neither of these. Same with GLaDOS (could've made her into a sexy-servant android or something if they really wanted to, but didn't).

This is absolutely gorgeous. The resolute look on her face is just perfect and the grime and highlights on her skin are amazing. Chell is a really beautiful character, with such an open ended background and personality. This more than does her justice.

I might not of written it very clearly, I meant it's More like bell - so it's not a "sh" sound at the beginning, more like "ch" from "chello".

Excellent work. Not a lot of people managed to actually nail down Chell's appearance much less not make it into a 3-D art. Awesome work and I really appreciate the little details including her knuckles and the very sly incorporation of the official-looking Aperture card. MOAR!
