The two configurations are not terribly comparable. In the case of the DTT's arrangement, the tread assembly can essentially act like a simple leg (as shown in the various shots of the pic you linked).

Thanks, never expect you comment but here it comes. I think I some how used a similar design philosophy like the techikoma, I know its not easy to make a mech unit cute. Not the SD but with serious effort.
