Description

The gigantic Wasp continued to stand to her full height and surveyed the city around her. So far all she could see was destruction in every direction that she looked. Her mind could only imagine about what had caused this devastation. One culprit that she did think about was some kind of atomic or nuclear bomb had destroyed the city.
However, she quickly ruled this out as her suit had a built in Geiger counter. If such a bomb had been detonated then there would be radiation all around her. Even her current size would not save her from radiation poisoning. Thankfully this was something that she didn’t have to worry about for the time being. But there was something that she did notice that was causing her some concern.
This was the fact that was short of breath after only taking what to her was a short walk. Wasp instinctively knew that this was because of her current size. even though she had been this size for a few minutes by now it was by far the longest that she had been like this. Whenever she grew to this size it had only been for a few seconds, a minute at the most. For this period of time it seemed like her body was struggling to cope, but with no method of shrinking down to her normal height she was stuck with her current problem.
All this time her helmet was also looking for signs of life. Besides a few birds flying through the air and stray cats in the streets there wasn’t really anything of note. A few of the birds had even landed on her but she had shooed them away. In a way she had found it a little funny, when she had been tiny, they had been a threat to her at times. Now she was so big that they were like insects to her.
Suddenly her helmet did pick up life signs that were of some interest to her. It couldn’t point out exactly what it was but the signature was definitely larger than a cat or bird but it wasn’t another creature like a horse. From what she could see it was the same as human life signs that she had seen before. Either way it was well worth investigating as she began to walk towards where the life signs were coming from.
To the giant Wasp her walk was nothing special but to anyone watching on it was the stuff of nightmares. Each footstep she took caused a small tremor in the ground and if anyone found themselves in the wrong place at the wrong time there was little chance of survival. It was unlikely that if she had stepped on, she would hardly notice. Also, when her body pushed by a few of the buildings it damaged them further. Since they were abandoned at least no one was getting hurt.
As she walked closer to where the life signs were coming from, she did notice something just ahead of her. On the ground was something that gave her a great amount of hope as she spotted a small group of people on the ground. She did have some trouble seeing them properly as they were very small in comparison to her.
“Hey wait there!” stated Wasp. Her voice was louder than she had expected and it even caused a few unbroken windows nearby to shatter. It even caused the people on the ground to have to stop and cover their ears. In this time, she had been able to step right in front of them and she went down to one knee. Not only was this so that she could see them better but also so that she didn’t seem so large to her.
It was only then that Wasp noticed that some of them were armed. Their clothing also looked to be ragged as if they had been wearing them for a long time. They even looked a little skinnier than she expected and it seemed obvious to her that they were not eating as much as they should. Not only that but a fair few of them were armed as well. They were panicking and, in this state, they began shooting at the giant superheroine.
“Hey!” shouted Wasp as she instinctively raised her hands to try and shield herself. A part of her expected to feel great pain as the bullets struck her body. If she had been normal size, she would most likely be dead. But thanks to her great size both her suit and skin were thicker than they were before. This led to the bullets harmless bouncing off her body and then making the long journey down to the ground below. “Stop that!”
“T-They’re not hurting it!” stated one of the people who was shooting Wasp. Just after he had stated this his gun stopped firing. His bullets had run out and one by one the rest of the guns too ran out of bullets. Much to their horror they could see that Wasp was completely unharmed and looming above them. Due to her helmet they couldn’t see her facial expression at all, they didn’t know whether she was angry at them or curious. “Oh crap, what do we do now.”
“You’ll stay exactly where you are!” Her voice was annoyed and her hands lowered as she knew that slightest threat that was present had ebbed away. The group of people below were so terrified that they couldn’t move, they feared that she would crush them where they stood if they tried to escape. “Now, I’m going to ask you a few questions and you’re going to answer them.” She could see the fear that they were feeling, it was not the first time that she had seen this. On more than one occasion she had seen people terrified of her when she was gigantic. They always knew that she was there to help but a primal fear still remained as they knew the destruction that she was capable of. “My name is Doctor Janet Van Dyne and you don’t need to be afraid of me. I have no intention of hurting you. Now please tell me, what happened here?”
“W-What do you mean?” He only spoke after Wasp’s question and her vision was squarely on him.
“I mean what happened to this city and what happened to everyone? Everything is in a state of ruin and you’re the first people I’ve come across. There are a lot of blanks that you need to fill me in on.”
“Y-You mean that you don’t know?” it seemed like his and the other people around him seemed to lose their fear as they became confused.
“No, that’s why I’m asking.” She looked at the group and for the first time she noticed that there were children amongst the group. This caused her some sadness to know that there were children suffering in this city as well. But the sooner she got answers the sooner she could decide on her next course of action.
“It came, it came and destroyed everything that we hold dear.”
“What came?” Just then everyone felt a shudder through the ground which caught them all by surprise. Especially due to the fact that Wasp hadn’t moved in a significant way to warrant such a shudder.
“That!”
The man pointed behind Wasp and this caused her to look behind her. Under her helmet her eyes widened as she saw something that she hadn’t expected at all. Standing a few short metres away from her was a towering figure that was just as large as her. It was a woman with short blue hair and glowing eyes that stared directly at Wasp. Besides her size there was something else that was striking, this was what looked to be some kind of tattoo on her arm that was glowing as well.
As Wasp stood up to her full height with some confusion the group of people that she had been questioning had already fled. They knew what was going to happen and if they wanted to be as far away from there as possible. The two giantesses stepped towards one another which to one was considered to be impossible.
While one was trying to figure out exactly what was going on the other giant woman lifted her fist as if to strike the gigantic superheroine. She didn’t say a single word as the distance between the two giantesses grew smaller. Even the birds that had annoyed Wasp previously knew to make themselves scarce, this was going to be a titanic battle which would likely cause a lot of collateral damage. Thankfully for the towering superheroine the city was already in a devastated level.
