Tried to make it organic and above our level of technology, a being from another plane of complexity.

Wow. Crazy thing, I just read Hyperion - an INCREDIBLE book for anyone who is curious, BTW.
Anyway, this picture caught my eye entirely on its own merits first; then I was intrigued by the title, "what can that mean?"...until I realized that it made sense to me. Talk about chilling, man. Nice work.

My thoughts when I saw this on the front page: "The Lord and the Colonel? What's this?"
My thoughts when I read the description: "Holy crap. Hyperion art."
My thoughts an instant after that: "Why have I not looked for Hyperion art before?"
(Bonus thought: "The Shrike brings new and horrible meaning to the term 'cheese grater abs.'")

Great work Alex. This is one of my favorite books and the alien nature and ambiguity of the Shrike is so wonderful. The Kassad chapter is great. You have really captured the sense of movement in this piece.

This is one of the best interpretations of the Shrike I've seen, and in such an awesome moment! You've got to be some demigod of the arts or something.
