Do various 'frames' of the same size, changing the variables slightly with each one and use a program such as flash to make a gif out of those frames. 83

Ok I'll try and do my best to be a bit clearer.
To animate the static, you simply follow the steps in the tutorial for make a static image, but to make an animation of it you need to make different images each time in order to make 'frames' for the animation, the static has to be slightly different each time. So the best way is to experiment. Add lines, add or remove 'noise' etc.
Then you need to use a program such as flash, adobe premier or even photoshop itself to compile each frame you have made into an animation.
Does that make more sense?

I've been wondering about this effect- when I have tried to get clean straight lines all the way across on a large canvas (2500x2500), it won't seem to cross all the way. Have you run into this problem, and have you figured out how to work around it?

Like I said in the tutioral- The best way is to make the image smaller. It seems a large canvas will give you this 'gap' whilst a smaller image (like the one at the bottom of my tut) will give you lines across. Matbe try adding a few shapes in the center of the image before adding the motion blur?

I think it has to do with how the motion blur works. Usually, this technique provides some very nice looking bands for something like a jupiter-like texture or rings around a planet =3. Naturally, those textures get pretty big.
I seem to have come up with a solution! You can take a little chunk of the left side all the way doown and define it as a pattern and then paint it back in. Dosn't give the pretty color variations, but all the lines are there.

It's so nice of you to share this with us, I've been wondering for ages because I see a few cool looking static-y avatars around and they look fun. I asked a few people but they never really answered.
Again, thank you so much!
