This is not really a tutorial as much as it's to teach people to not be too naive when it comes to art. There are people who do this! This is of course only one way of doing it, I'm sure there are plenty.
If you do fake your art I have absolutely no respect for you.
Fake art - why care and what to look forI posted this last week for anyone looking for help to spot fake art. This is not law, if you don't care, feel free to move on. But if you do care that there are fakers out there, then maybe this could be of some use to you too. We have a serial faker on the loose on dA today so it sparked this little lot once more.
So, the questions/scenarios asked are always the same and the responses/justifications are always the same, but give them a minute to sink in before replying and insulting.
(Q1) Why do you care if someone is cheating what does it have to do with you?

I feel you, what is sad about this type of people faking artwork, is not only that they are mocking and blurring out real amazing artists, but there are a huge amount of ignorant people following their fake work.
Thanks for giving a heads up to the community and real artists, those who spend hours perfecting their craft using any type of material, from visual artists to digital, to 3d.
People who do real work, the world is proud of you, let's bring out those who disrespect our community of deviant artists.

Is it really "fake" though, it still takes some effort and if the original photograph belongs to you then there's no copyright issues. I think this actually looks pretty cool and I personally would call the finished piece art. I don't see much of a problem as long as the artist admits this is what they're doing, that's just my thoughts though.

It is fake if you do this and tell people it is a drawing, yes. However, if you say that it is indeed an image with scribbles on it, then no problemo.

Dang! I was fooled by that person, she just simply cheats! And when I checked how she worked on her fake art, it LOOKS totally legit.

If really she does this I agree that it is unfair for "real" artists. I've checked myself with the photo of her drawing "Geisha" ([link] ) (I easily found the original photo on Google ([link] )) though, if it is a fake it is really well done. Indeed:
1. The mouth is asymmetrical and she has lost her little smile;
2. The lines of the shadows of the fan are different on the drawing;
3. The chin is thinner than the original...
Of course these changes can have been made with PS; everything is possible.
Moreover, talking about proportions, some artists manage to do very resembling drawings by drawing a grid on the blank sheet, as this astonishing artist: [link] OK, on the livestream there is no grid.
I'm not taking her defence but you should not accuse her without proof. Even if the possibility for her art to be real does not exceed 1%, if she actually draws everything herself you are doing her much wrong that cannot be undone. And she's not obliged to answer your questions; that's also her right to suppress comments that could be harmful to her reputation. Finally, even if it's not very nice to unwatch people who have return her the watch, it does not mean that her art is fake.
It is true that your arguments are convincing, and I understand your wish to denounce phoneys. But I find it dangerous to do so only on the basis of suspicion. What about excellent artists? Some manage to do truly exceptional work which is impossible for anyone else to do...
