Description
I'm not that much of an expert about drawing Derek Morgan, but ~SwynfordBeaufort asked me, so here it is. I'm not doing tutorials about every Criminal Minds character, anyway. The tips you can find in these two can easily apply to most portrait work. especially those about measurements and inclinations for that basic sketch.
But doing it was rather fun after all. ^__^

Ahhh morgan... He is not that challenging for me but I'm sure this cld help^^ if u make one for jj however I will love u forever! I have no idea why she is such a challenge for me-_- usually I rock at drawing female characters

Did you draw Morgan and JJ before? Couldn't find them. You should really organize your gallery in folders, there are so many drawings...
Hmmm... Maybe JJ can be difficult because she doesn't have unusual features, so it's hard to find those details that are essential to get her likeness. Well, I have a feeling I'll end up making tutorials for every character, after all...

Yes I have but I hate them so much I can't bare to put them up <.< >.> and I intend to make folders I am just a horrible procrastinator^^ haha and I can't blame u for not wanting to draw Seaver... She is not good enough to replace jj :/

A drawing that looks exactly like a photo is a boring waste of time.

And This is why I love your work.
I can't do soft shading at all. Everything comes out sketchy for me. But I can't crosshatch that well either. Everything I crosshatch looks weird. I'm so useless.
I absolutely love Morgan. He's such a hunk. I'm a sucker for guys like him. Dark. Big. And badass.

Found some examples in your gallery... Nothing so weird in my opinion. Maybe you should try to make your pencil strokes more regular, and rotate the sheet when you add more shadows.
And yeah, Morgan is definitely badass hunk!

I probably need to practice hatching. My strokes really are irregular. I end up with zigzags rather than hatches. Even when sketching they go dark and light like my hand has a mind of it's own. Orz
When hatching do you lift the pencil with each stroke and start each stroke from the same side? No one's really explained this to me before.
Morgan is actually my favorite in the show. Reid grew on me after watching 2 episodes. He's just so lovable.

Yeah, I lift the pencil. I don't actually start ALWAYS on the same side, but try to keep a consistent movement until I finish that particular shadow area. Don't really know how to explain it. Sometimes starting two overlapping layer of shading from different directions works best for me.

The lifting the pencil part seems to be my problem... Thus the zigzagging lines.
