ok, so... I finished it
the story was pretty nice and I recommended it to few friends, but I still feel there were problems with overpowering characters and somewhat rushed story. Still, it was pretty cool and I like the idea of those unicorn blades... and Astor Coruscare... I wish there was more on her in the story

Nightmare Moon had aimed a blast of flame at Vanguard Clash but she changed her target at the last moment. With Pyre Valor acting up again, her aim faltered as did her control over the tentacles. The torrent of flame washed over Rarity, engulfing the white unicorn completely. To her surprise, Rarity leaped through the flames without so much as a slightly singed coat. An aura of purple magic surrounded Rarity. Her blades spun towards Nightmare Moon, their formation making them resemble an enormous spinning disc. She readied a teleportation spell but she felt another spell hit her, rooting her to the spot.

it's still not on the Upheaval page though, I think you might have mistakenly marked it as normal pony art and not fan-art for Upheaval, or they though it was good enough to go in the drawfriend and are dragging their feet on adding it to the Upheaval page

I wrote it is a fanart for Upheaval in my submission email. as a matter of fact I just copied what I wrote in my previous emails
oh well... if the won't update it I will just resend the email.
and maybe add few other pictures as a standard submission just to see if they will get featured as well

you really do like your flame effects
awesome pic, not much to complain about, the look for the blades is interesting
the only minor quibble I have is with her mage coat (I assume that's what it is, and not a regular wolven cloak, otherwise disregard this) it seems too thin, if I remember right, it's a thick coat made out of layers of cloth and padded with leather, what she's wearing in this picture looks like just a regular cloak
