Since taking an extended break in the DCU, with no movie lined up and only cameos in background shots for promotional images for the Heroes in Crisis comic and guest appearances in Harley Quinn, Karen Starr is relaxing once more.I rarely do requests these days ( it irritated me when some requesters started acting as though they were paying me ), but the suggestion from picked my interest as something slightly different for me to draw from the more typical poses I've been doing recently. And I hadn't drawn Powergirl for a little while...

The suit reminds me of Galatea once more though, pity that she was insane(Cadmus could have just payed a few spare minutes to care about wellbeing of their assets and they'd be far better off) and was knocked out so hard, that reality forgot about her. Speaking of which, picture situation: Power Girl's sidekick(of sorts) is Terra, right? But Karen and Atlee aren't the only ones, who bear those titles. So, imagine if Tara hadn't died, but is believed to be dead by TT or Cadmus somehow retrieved her body and "restored" her(she was already cloned once anyway). She was quite good at infiltration once at least, she has superpowers and Galatea is still recovering(or the timeline where she was send out as a weapon instead of trained agent never existed) so sending back up for her might be a good idea. Skip forward some time before both will stabilize in psychological sense(and Cadmus is either taken over by better alternative or more radical elements are purged) and they're used to working together. Hmm, it's getting long... Anyway, now finally the situation, Tea(who's never was officially called PG though) and Tara infiltrate a facility and on security feed they see Karen and Atlee assaulting it as well and that they have neither a way to avoid contact nor time to spare(and risk blowing up the secrecy) for confrontation. Due to Cadmus files, they know that the two others aren't native to this reality and so they try to quickly make a cover up in most ridiculuos way possible - claim that they're native team of their alternatives... and that they're heroes, of course
Damn, sorry for this wall of nonsense. Don't know what got into me. Picture is great once again. Not sure if she'd need the diver footwear though.

I felt that Galatea was effectively intended to become Powergirl in that animated Universe, ( but with her internal issues about herself and her capacity for violence ramped up ), I honestly thought they were opening room up when they had Supergirl go off to the far future never to return, but the series was canceled and they never returned to it. A pity.
Interesting idea, and less convoluted than some of the current DC stuff, but I don't think they are required as long as DC has the main Powergirl and Atlee.
As for the flippers, I hadn't really thought about it at the time

There were several moments like that when you could have expected the character to join in the series, but then nothing happened. Remember that viking "prince" they found in iceberg? Who was also completely immune to fire so they have send him to the Sun(unless the intention was to let gravity destroy his body). Well, I honestly expected him to wake up in the middle of the episode.
Not required in canon or comics, just one off thing in the DCAU continuity. Plus Terra was largely switched in animated adaptations from simply terrible person to someone, who was f//cked up by life and other so people take pity of her and want to see her redemption. Need to start somewhere. Plus there was no animated Atlee as far as I remember so why not make an allusion to their little team since we have Galatea as Powergirl anyway?

That was a missed opportunity, the acknowledgement of the lesser known character was welcome, but a bit more should have been done.

D'you notice how in that 'Heroes in Crisis' cover she's off on her own?
Artistic choice relating to her isolated history, indication of plot significance, or something more... or something less; you know what DC thinks of her.

Probably just showing her lack of importance to the plot ( assuming she even appears in the story ), DC have displayed little interest in the character since the New 52 one was met with general dislike and the proper version was more or less quietly returned ( if only to guest appear in Harley Quinn now and again ).
I also noticed on the Heroes in Crisis cover, just off to the left and even further back on his own was Captain Atom, who much like Power Girl was once a prominent player in DC but barely ever registers these days.

It's funny, we never think of comic heroines taking a vacation break, but Karen Starr with her multimillion-dollar Starr Enterprises, deserves a holiday just like non meta-humans.
Once again Adam, you have come up with a new an charming look at our heroine, enjoying the undersea experience.Β Her hair is floating as naturally as it should, her eyes look happy and relaxed as she gets away from it all for a while.Β I even like the "Mini" (.)(.) - cutout in her swimsuit, wonderful proportions on her abs and musculature.Β

A bit of regular activities always gives these characters more humanity, like when Karen and Atlee went shopping in the Palmiotti/Connor series.Β And then I realise that was ages ago... darn it.
I was aiming for relaxed joy with the picture, and it was a fun one to draw, the costume is one I drew last year for another picture ( a similar holiday image although more posed ).
