Oh man! I love your work and I love Dagger. Any chance this will be a poster like the ones you did for DC. I have the Supergirl one you did on my wall. And in an art related question: In the above you talked about how you used Copic markers. Are those the only brand you use? And are the awesome effects you create with them something you learned from some where(i.e a book, school, class, mentor) or just from years of experince? Thanks.

YESS!! Cloak and Dagger remains to this day, one of my all-time favorite Marvel comics series. Rick Leonardi's work on that book in the 80's was genius. And I thought everybody had forgotten about it. Wonderful to see your rendition!

This was a really cool piece to watch you work on. And, obviously the art itself is incredible... but, what actually impresses me most about your stuff is your eye for design. The incorporated design concept takes the art and knocks it otta the park...

The flash glow immediately reminded me of Alex Ross. Actually, it immediately reminded me of the Flash Gordon theme (the space and the shining!) but that and the Ross painting are synonymous in my mind. I don't know which thought I had first. I'm trying to give you a compliment.
I love the black and white and how she disappears, the V shape... this is insanely cool.

It's like you were able to use a layer of screen lighting in a freaking marker and pen drawing. You're skills aren't sick. they're terminal.

WOW! BLOWS MY MIND! What exactly did you use, to get the light effects? Rather how. It looks luminous.

I just used lighter markers. In the areas around Dagger's hands and the light daggers, I started with a C4 Copic, and while the papers was wet, I worked up to C10, 100, & 110 (the three darkest markers) while simultaneously working away from the glowing elements. The markers blended and it gives the impression of a glow.

Cool. At this point, I don't mix cool and warm greys in my art. Seeing it done this way in your image really inspires me and I'll have to keep this technique in mind for the future.

Hurray! Dagger is lovely. Good work, I like it alot.
And you use markers? That's FANTASTIC to know, because that's practically the only thing I use.

Markers are a lot of fun. They are fast & easy to use, but require a little discipline to get any decent illustration effects from.

well said!
damn shame that the only paper that really brings out the character of marker also eats them up like i do a pizza half way through a dungeon crawl!
best part is going over them with the final touches(white pencils, graphite, and pentel whiteout) that moment where your drawing jumps out and comes to life! :~)
i might be a little high on copic at the moment! (draw near a window people)

I was such a fanboy for this comic book series many years ago, notably due to the hotness of Dagger. I could take or leave most of the story. You've certainly captured the parts I liked best, excellent work as always.

Hmm. Funny.
I've known of some of the most well known Marvel Comics character, but i do not know this one... at least, i don't think i do.
Regardless, i like the effects coming out of this one.

They were also in the old "Maximum Carnage" story that crossed over all the Spidey books in the early '90's and in the "Maximum Carnage" video game that was on the Sega Genesis (holy crap I'm old!!!)

Oh my, Maximum Carnage. I do remember that game myself, although i've never played it all.
I did read something about that game in one of my oldest Nintendo Power issues. I don't have it no more, since it's now been torn to shreds or something.
As for the comic book of the same name, i've never seen it either.
