acrylic, 2006 (an older piece)This piece is based on a Siberian Folk Tale called "The Girl Who Watched in the Night", in which this particular girl lassoes a fox who has been kidnapping her cousins, and demands that he lead her to her kin.
Originally, I illustrated this same scene from a normal angle, level with the girl. My illustration teacher told me that it didn't convey the movement of running through the woods; it was too static. So I went back and tried again from a different angle, and this is what I produced. So, I'm thankful that my teacher was honest and coaxed me to try again, because I like this version much better than the first.

you already have plenty of comments regarding how amazing this angle is, and the burst of color the fox adds.
therefore I was just going to favorite, but apparently DA added a feature that insists a comment after adding as a favorite
must obey the DA.
But alas, I have a fox obsession, and while looking into fox artwork as I plan on getting a fox tattoo next month, despite this picture appearing to be nothing what I was looking for, the piece drew me in. I wish I had this hanging on my wall sir.

When I saw that I was like short before crying because that IS epic.
I really love the shading, the perpsective is unbeleaveable and the contrast of the red/orange fox in this cold and white landscape is awesome.

It's already been said, but, the perspective you used here is really well done. The angles of the trees and the colour of the fox and the girl really draw you in to the centre of the piece.
