acrylic, 2006 (an older piece)This piece is based on a Siberian Folk Tale called "The Girl Who Watched in the Night", in which this particular girl lassoes a fox who has been kidnapping her cousins, and demands that he lead her to her kin.
Originally, I illustrated this same scene from a normal angle, level with the girl. My illustration teacher told me that it didn't convey the movement of running through the woods; it was too static. So I went back and tried again from a different angle, and this is what I produced. So, I'm thankful that my teacher was honest and coaxed me to try again, because I like this version much better than the first.

The perspective is well executed. I hope you experiment with various other perspectives; I'd love to see what else you produce. Good texture on the trees, too; you have the season down well, and I like how the contrasting colors between nature and the girl and fox.

This is a really nice piece; I love it. Excellent angle and perspective, great reading with the lower left to upper right diagonal. Nice tones and lots of impact

Exceptional usage of perspective. The concept is great as well as the colors. However, the only thing that I'm wondering about is why the girl isn't wearing a coat, and why the fox is on a leash. Just curious that's all.
