Description
acrylic, 2006 (an older piece)This piece is based on a Siberian Folk Tale called "The Girl Who Watched in the Night", in which this particular girl lassoes a fox who has been kidnapping her cousins, and demands that he lead her to her kin.
Originally, I illustrated this same scene from a normal angle, level with the girl. My illustration teacher told me that it didn't convey the movement of running through the woods; it was too static. So I went back and tried again from a different angle, and this is what I produced. So, I'm thankful that my teacher was honest and coaxed me to try again, because I like this version much better than the first.
Thank you all for the wonderful comments! Your words mean a lot to me! And thank you to ~C-Ungol and ^De-Profundis for the DD, I'm honored!

Wow, I envy you. I can't do acrylic paint. I can oil okay, and I'm great at watercolor, but I can't do a decent acrylic painting to save my life ><
This is very nice.

Haha, in real life you're probably right, but fantasy is much more fun to illustrate.
It's actually based on a Eskimo folk tale, called "The Girl Who Watched in the Night".

Holy smokes, this is gorgeous! That's quite a magical little scene you've painted here! I feel like I'm reading a children's book, it's that lovely. The perspective, the coloring, the framing! Not to mention that it's a winter scene--which I love--with a fox--also love--and that adorable little Inuit child trailing after it--again, love
