Description
I spent my childhood drawing sleek, muscular dragons, trying to achieve some apex of hardcorenes. But tonight, I had a strong urge to tip the scale and embrace the imperfect side of the dragon world. My favorite artist is Tony DiTerlizzi, and he's a genius at making ugly things both strangely beautiful and full of character. I think he's on to something!photoshop, hour and a half, no reference, bristly brush

Oh wow, those nostrils sure are delightful. I love all the hints of heat in his extremeties... and the whiskers/hair!

Rudolph the red-nosed rat-beast
had a very shiny nose
and if you ever saw it
you would even say it is well rendered and the color choices are effective.

Wow, no one's ever written a song about my art before! Thanks a lot!
There's definitely some rat in there; I was thinking rat + Watto + dragon.

I love the glow around his nostrils. I love the idea--you executed it really well, too. The body is very proportional and sleek, despite it's curves and rolls. C:

I too love the glowing nostrils. You're right.. far too many dragons are in shape.
Tony DiTerlizzi is one of favorite artists. I love his Spiderwick stuff and Ted...he's truly amazing.

The smaller illustrations for those books are really good, too. I wish I could buy them all >.<

A very unique take on dragons and I like it! It does look a bit stretched horizontally though..
