I saw you talking about satin fabric and I must ask how to not make it fray if you know?
I'm making a cloak out of satin and I used a running stitch hand sewn, as I have no sewing machine, to hem it. If I only use the running stitch once and don't even fold the fabric, will it eventually tear apart due to fraying even if I turn it right side out? Just wondering ^-^"

Since you are a plush maker, do you mind if I ask you a few questions? Your the only one that has talk to me so far!
Asides from minky, what kind of material is good? I was not good with the silk like material I was given by my mother

adamlhumphreys In reply to Apocolypseoftheheart [2014-10-05 20:13:10 +0000 UTC]
Ooo, yeah. Satin like materials is a real bad choice too. Fleece has a similar stretch and doesn't fray much.

Ahhh, sorry for bothering you again and once more if this is something you have answered and I am blind.
I was wondering what kind of ink I can use without permenantly damaging the fleece. My crayola markers that are washable are not doing to well-

adamlhumphreys In reply to Apocolypseoftheheart [2014-10-08 07:01:45 +0000 UTC]
Well, of all the things I don't hide, the ink I use for tracing is something I actually will keep a secret. ^^ But that doesn't mean I can't try to give a recommendation, but what do you mean by permanently damaging? It could well be that what I use wouldn't even fall under that category, but I don't know. I can say using something that bleeds is definitely a bad idea, but even then the best approach is to sew inside the lines and trim off excess.

True, I do have some spindly nerd hands. All this typin' and whatnot. You have lightbulbs and electronics, and I have algorithms and math trivia

But yeah, that sounds nasty. Also isn't picking at warts supposed to be a risk for infection? D:

Barely visible for the most part (when considering the skin around it), and it doesn't hurt. Technically, even picking one's nose would be present a risk of infection. Same would apply to any break in the skin. But hey, if you know where I can pick some liquid nitrogen, or a liquid nitrogen generator, (or even a cryocooler), then it could just be froze off.

At what temp do you consider a wart frozen? And how big of an application area before you go from "frozen wart" to "frostbitten hand"?

A dermatologist generally take a q-tip style cotton swab, and applies it for a few seconds. I've had it done a couple of times on another finger or two, but this was the only one that consistently came back. (Also, the doctor was actually kind of amazed that I didn't seem to have a problem with it. Not sure why others would, because the actual burning sensation doesn't start until about a minute after application.) But generally, the point is indeed to freeze it to kill it.

naan21 In reply to adamlhumphreys [2014-09-05 04:06:00 +0000 UTC]
Well what I meant was more specifically if you had a temperature in which case it was considered frozen. -50C, -100C, 0K?
But the Q-tip sized application answered my other question.

I figured, but I have no idea. Now, had I ever had the chance to actually see the generator they have, it might have the current temperature on a display that might give me a clue. ^^

Haven't been there in some time. Another blessing is I've rarely been to my regular doctor since we lost health insurance. I used to get sinus infections through the year. Now I take 1g of vitamin C and 900mg of Echinacea twice a day. If I feel sick or something coming on, I'll take Echinacea Goldenseal Complex instead, and the rest up to 4 times a day. That's all in addition to my regular daily multivitamin. It's quite awesome to not have to go to the doctor all the time!
Oops, forgot the second part. No probs man!

Oh god, yeah. I had my health insurance drop right before I turned 21 (was under my parents, and theirs didn't carry me until 26 like other providers do apparently)
Actually, I have been on hospital charity thankfully, but in about 2-3 weeks I get to use my new work insurance for the first time. yay
But wowzers, that sounds pretty awesome! Let me help you cheer!

Same here, but since my dad got laid off at his previous place of employment, (almost 25 years, ~9 months short IIRC of full retirement benefits), health insurance is gone.
Ah, well I hope it works out then. ^^'
And now with ponies!

Just a matter of copy-paste.
Thank you! And actually, it's been a lot more affordable without health insurance. He's doing contract work ATM, but that sounds like it may wear off sometime next year, (which is better than the initially suspected June of this year, which my dad knew wouldn't happen do to the backlog).
