Description
I recently spent a few days in Sydney which is on the other side of Australia from where I live. I've never been to Sydney before and it is many years since I did city photography. This photo of Circular Quay was taken from near the Sydney Opera House.

Thank you very much. Yes I had a great time but I would have loved to have seen the sun occasionally.

Thank you very much Jonathan. I went to Sydney with the intention of looking for shots that would work in B&W. I found a few.

You mean there`s stuff in Sydney other than the Opera House and bridge
Still a lovely cityscape

Ha ha. I must admit I wanted to see those two icons and photograph them I did, (lots and lots) and no doubt you will see my efforts eventually. But hope to show other things too.

Nice. I'm from Sydney. Sydney, Nova Scotia
When I hear Circular Quay it puts me in mind of the line from "And the band played Waltzing Matilda"...
And as our ship pulled into Circular Quay
I looked at the place where me legs used to be
And thanked Christ there was no one there waiting for me
To grieve, and to mourn, and to pity

I love that song and I once did an audio visual using it as a background to my Anzac Day photos. Circular Quay would be nothing like it was written about, which in some ways is a shame.
I didn't know there was a Sydney in Canada. Is it a large place. I don't think I was expecting anything on such a large scale as our Sydney.

Yeah it's a powerful song!
The Sydney where I come from is a small city on the beautiful island of Cape Breton. It got as big as 35,000 but the population has declined sharply since then. Industrial Cape Breton, with Sydney at the core, used to be prosperous with the coal mining and steel industry but that has since disappeared so people like me had to leave to find jobs.
The cities were named after the same guy, our city was named after him first
