Detail of all the headshots from the Game of Thrones/Days of Future Past mashup:I've done a ton of caricature headshots for another project over the past couple months, and it really prepped me for this piece. I have never considered myself particularly skilled at likenesses, but after doing so damned many of them in a row before even starting this piece, I think it all came out pretty well.

They didn't make the poster - too small-fry for the big picture. Even Littlefinger is only really interested in the Eyrie as a stepping stone to bigger, more important things.

Yeah, it was so hard picking who went on the poster. Every new season I keep wishing the poster had another few rows for more characters, but it just wouldn't look right if the wanted poster got any larger than it is. I already enlarged it by at least 33% over the original cover I'm homaging!

About half of them look actually more how they should have looked (Catelyn looks younger, Theon has darker hair...).

I really like this! Margaery and Sansa are my favorite here (not in the books/show, mind you) because of their facial expression. Ah, Margaery-bitch-please and her trademark smirk...

Margaery was one of the most fun to draw - she has a great face for illustration. Sansa was a little harder, but I'm glad you like how she turned out.

Absolutely love this poster set - and the larger picture. The really interesting thing to me is how it's the character's expressions, rather than their features, that really make it clear who's who - Margaery's smile, Tywin's stare, Melisandre's gaze. Really great. And - forgive me for asking, but the blonde in the second-to-last row on the left - is that Brienne?Β

Yeah, that's Brienne. I'd hoped her intensity (and hair) would be enough to get her across. That's the thing about doing this sort of caricature--it isn't aiming for absolute realism, but rather trying to get the feeling of the character across. Yeah, the features have to be close enough not to throw it off, but it's much more about how you use those features that makes them feel alive.

It's very clear that it's her, just so you know - but with Game of Thrones having a Cast! Of! Thousands! it's sometimes good to double-check. I agree that the feeling of the character comes across really well; it seems like illustration needs to be about 50% fidelity to facial features and 50% fidelity to feelings.
