Had this in storage a while, figured I'd bring it back just for the sake of it. Old pic from 2003, but watercolor was a good medium for bringing across the rough, intense atmosphere I was going for. =Gold-Seven did the fantastic greyscale shading.
It should be apparent what just happened, but if not, the vidaug jumped down on Faeren and shoved him into the other guy. *wince* The blonde guy watching is Falen. Even though this is older I really like it. I love the roughness, and colours, and motion and emotion in the picture. I really love all the character design too.

No matter how many times I look at this I can't help but think about how raw it is. The colouring really suits the mood (but then you already know that.)
I think the only way it could be any grittier is if you showed Faeren from a slightly different angle where we adtually see the spear going through him, (even know we already know that's what happened from this angle).
Either way, I still like this piece.

I'm not sure who's good and who's bad, but if those vidaugs are on the same side as the one in brown, it was a good idea to make them all brown. If not, then the one stabbed should have a different color.

An excellant scene! I love seeing pictures that really tell a story. This seems like a very dramatic one with such a surprise and sad ending! You did a great job catching the suddenness of the moment with the looks on all their faces and the sense of movement. The colour scheme works really well with it all. Thanks for bringing it out of storage to share, much appreciated!
