Generation 3 would have been perfect for the new sound type. Chimecho would have been perfect Psychic / Sound, it would be able to create psychic sounds which drive other pokemon insane, control their minds, irritate them or make them happy. I never liked Chimecho, but with the PSychic / Sound combination it would be the perfect pokemon by far.Β

I feel similar about Gen7 and a Cosmic type

Cosmic would be good on most legendary pokemon, and I'm not a fan of legendary pokemon, that's why I wouldn't really miss that type. Sound is something I really, REALLy want badly in pokemon.Β

The problem is, in the last few generations, they keep adding new Pokemon that are more prominently Sound-based than most others, while also being given very colorful and interesting type combinations.
Which just makes it very messy to try and re-type them, if a Sound type was added.
So on one hand, there is the likes of Wigglytuff and Pyroar, where the Normal type is pretty much a placeholder that's itching to be replaced by a Sound type.
But on the other hand, you have these:
Seismitoad - Water/Ground (it's clearly a Water type, but also uses sound...to cause earthquakes, making it a dilemma to replace either)
Noivern - Flying/Dragon (the combination seems like nothing special at first glance, but having the Flying type as its main is quite a rarity, while replacing Dragon would upset the most people)
Primarina - Water/Fairy (Water can't go due to being starter, but at the same time, it's known as the first and only starter that gets Fairy. Also its ability would need a rework)
Toxtricity - Poison/Electric (there is no way this Pokemon would not be a Sound type, but there is also no way it would not be Poison or Electric, cause it feels like that is completely inherent to its entire concept)
Honorable mentions:
Kommo-o - Dragon/Fighting (also very unique combination and very fitting for it)
Lapras - Water/Ice (there is lots of references to it singing and the new Gmax form plays with that as well)

I would be ok with Seismitoad, Toxtricity and Primarina not gaining the sound type, there are enough others that can still gain it, most importantly Chimecho, Exploud-group, Politoed, Mismagius/misdreavus ect ect. Noivern should lose the flying type, nobody really cares for the flying type anyway lol. But I understand what you mean, it isn't very likely that pokemon gains any new type anytime soon. But one day maybe, when they are out of these stupid modes like Giga-pokemon, ultra-evolutions and variants, then maybe, maybe they will introduce one or two new types to the game to attract move fans.

The primary Flying type is a big selling point for Noivern to me XD
...but fortunately, we are starting to get a few more primary Flying types now

Pokemon I could see gaining the sound type:
Igglybuff line, Whismur line, Chatot, Chingling line, Misdreavus line, Noibat line (although with Noivern I wouldn't have Dragon type sacrificed for it), Meloetta
Pokemon I never thought of considering to be sound type:
Kricketot line, Politoed, Yanma line, Trumbeak & Toucannon, Audino, Bellossom
Pokemon I never thought of considering to be sound type but not entirely sure how they could integrate it into their type combo:
Tympole line, Swablu line
Pokemon I get why they're classified as it but am somewhat against being sound type:
Brionne & Primarina, Hakamo-o & Kommo-o
Pokemon I don't see being sound type:

I would have Yanma and Yanmega be Bug/Dragon, Swablu and Altaria be Dragon/Fairy, keep Woobat and Swoobat's typings, Noibat and Noivern be Sound/Dragon, Misdreavus and Mismagius Ghost/Magic, Jangmo-o and Tympole pure Sound, Hakamo-o and Kommo-o Sound/Fighting, Bellossom Grass/Light and Palpitoad and Seismitoad be Sound/Ground.

I agree with the Bug/Dragon thing, that would be so logical! Altaria I would like to see as Fairy / Flying.Β
