Description

For

“Evolution’s Winners” begins 252 million years ago. This is well before the dinosaurs themselves, in depths of the darkest age in the history of life on Earth: the Permian extinction event, in which 96% of all oceangoing species on Earth went extinct, and 70% of their counterparts on land followed suit, such as the saber-toothed predator Inostrancevia.

Yet, life is resilient. The next part of this episode takes place 230 million years ago, in South America. The first dinosaurs, such as the small biped Eoraptor, cling on to a world dominated to older orders of reptiles, such as the tusked ischigualastia, and the enormous crocodilian predator Saurosuchus. Clinging alongside them are the earliest mammals and mammalian reptiles, like the little digger Probelesodon.

The next part of the episode, in late Jurassic Antarctica, deals with the dominion dinosaurs now have over the land. The crested predator Cryolophosaurus stalks a herd of Glacialisaurus across the Antarctic jungles, while those ancient irritants known as mosquitoes interfere with both giants’ efforts.

Next, we cut to the late Cretaceous period, and see the massive beaked dinosaur Gigantoraptor’s efforts to impress a mate in the deserts of Mongolia. His mating dance initially seems to be going well – until his feet break through the earth, and his feet crash into the burrow of a family of Zalambdalestes mammals. Whoops.

Finally, we see that the dinosaurs have not fully conquered one place: the oceans are still the dominion of larger predators. Sharks are a problem, but a much greater threat comes from the mighty serpentine Mosasaurs, beasts that brush ammonites aside like insects and can tear sharks apart with ease.

I do not own the rights, they belong to Discovery Channel, etc etc...

you fit the entire cast into the same page without the carnivores trying to stay away from each other?
