Description EDIT: Please make sure with this you cannot get the exact effect or quality of HDR

In this tutorial, I have used the deviation of *pens-n-feathers

This is HOW TO process your one image with HDR Software... (my technique)

With this you can process your one JPG image (image with right exposure) into HDR Image.

For all my fellows for their support, love & care.

why encourage poor quality HDR?

and when using photoshop if you take the single jpeg and adjust the exposure slider instead of the brightness and save the files as 16 bit tiffs you will be able to generate a far better result.

just increasing the brightness to 50 and darkness as -50, doesnt mean you will take advantage of hdr.

the idea is when increasing the exposure you heal burnouts and when decreasing exposure you heal blowouts, so you have a nice dynamic range throughout the image and everything is exposed correctly.

really its just an increased dynamic range.

i can appreciate you taking time to do a tutorial, but with the end result being poor it doesnt do people justice.

I think it's a good trick to create an effect when trying to do a straight up photoshopping, and it points out a photoshop trick that someone may not have thought of that might be useful to them during a project at some point.

But, you're right as well, it is encouraging that crazy surreal effect that is so popular even with people doing true HDR, and is really the downfall to the true power of HDR and the wonderful images it can create.

I've got one or two HDR images in my gallery that I tried to not go crazy with, and they look like scenery photos. If I didn't say they were HDR most probably wouldn't know, which I think is really the key to a great photoshopping or photography effect, the viewer shouldn't know that you did anything.

yeah man, im love the hdr look, but in saying this when its done right, and its done right by so many.

its just got such a bad name.

if u ever get the chance check out you couldnt even tell a lot of his stuff is hdr but it is.

fine & agreed

but my results are infront of you ... ofcourse it is not a perfect HDR & everyone knows about it ..

Rom3o In reply to ahmedwkhan [2008-10-21 17:18:17 +0000 UTC]

yes but the results are sub standard, to expect perfect HDR is far fetched, but to teach poor hdr isnt right either.

you are a great photographer but hdr isnt a strong point of yours and to teach others something you obviously dont understand yourself seems cruel.

lol first of all m not a great photographer at all I am still learning ...

& about HDR thingy I ve mentioned before posting this in my journal that this tech will not give you exact HDR image... but the reason why i did this..is cuz of the messages on how i achieved those effects in my recent pic of Badshahi Mosque deviation...

And about using the term HDR is to tell basics of it.. see also my previous journals..

cheers ~

the mosc image i actually have seen before and its brilliant, but when people try take the principles you applied and do their own, it turns to shit.

search for HDR and order it by 'Newest' '1 week'.

so much of it is results of methods like the one in this tutorial and they deserve to know the best possible method.

hdr has a bad name, i think im just sensitive when it can be taught better.

What you've got here is producing an HDR-like effect in an image without needing 3-5 images. Which in certain instances is exactly what you want to do. So great algorithm for that.

But, with certain scenes or lighting conditions it will be very apparent that it isn't a true HDR image. Remember HDR is designed to overcome the sensitivity problems that all CCDs and films have, so with 3-5 images the software can figure out what that image really should look like if your CCD were perfect. Though most of us get a little zealous with our adjustments and end up making the surreal image that is now commonly associated with HDR, which if that's the goal, your way works great for that.

Hate to rain on the parade.

I totally agree with this
I ve mentioned that this is not exactly HDR nor it gonna produce that great effects on the images.. but just a start of this tech...

thanks

Not perfect, but, I'll keep playing with the HDR program. Think I needed to use a better brightness with the base photo.
