You gave the musculature... I adore you. I've been having such trouble finding references for musculature, especially for the wings and shoulders. Thank you!

Wow, this is amazing! I never even thought about it this way, haha, but I guess it does make sense to compare to "real" creatures. Thanks for this!.

Awesome tutorial. Showing the bone structure should help a lot with figuring out how to draw those ever so tricky legs and feet. Thanks.

Wow, this is a great tutorial, especially for people just starting out drawing dragons! I wish this had been around when I first started, since so many dragon tutorials out there are "This is the only right way to draw a dragon," which doesn't exactly inspire creativity and imagination.
I really love how you encourage people to look at different animals and their anatomy, and then keep it in mind when drawing dragons As well as stating that there is no defined form of a dragon (I really don't understand how a mythical creature can have a defined form, anyways).
Really, a great tutorial for anyone who draws or is thinking of getting into drawing dragons alike. The walk cycle is a bonus, too; don't see many of those around. I'll be sure to direct anyone looking for a dragon tutorial here, since I believe it's one of the most comprehensive tutorials I've come across

You're very welcome Like I said, it's a great tutorial; couldn't very well sit by and let it go unsuggested. I'm glad that ^bleedsopretty agreed that it was a great tutorial and DD material :3

Impressive! One of the most comprehensive dragon tutorials I've come across so far.
I won't quibble too much about the musculature of a mythical creature, but I find that the main wing muscle should sweep a little forward in order to be able to pull the wing down. The way it's set it doesn't seem to be fully able to do that. Also the shoulder muscles would be equally well developed. Your way is close to birds' flight muscles. Another way would be something similar to bats--they have well-developed chest and shoulder muscles. In a way, they can be considered better flyers than birds, acrobatically.

yes, the wing musculature is especially hard on dragons since all other flying things don't have any arms. and then the fitting of the wing muscluature is hard. I chosed the bird way, but as I say in the tutorial this is no complete guide, just how I do them. Another way would be to have muscles in front of the leg as well, but I think it's just a matter of what you prefer yourself.
Thanks for commenting
