So... you haven't already done the animation? You're still at the base image? I'm a bit confused here.

Actually i have another question.....how do you Uninstall gimp?

Cuz the version i have is 2.7 and that might be the problem because i'f i'm not mistaken thats a experimental version and that might be why i cant animate.and if you can could you give me a link to download the lastest safe version for Windows(My laptop type)?

AleriaCarventus In reply to Novasreality224 [2009-10-21 17:59:34 +0000 UTC]

To uninstall it, on your start menu, find the Gimp folder, it should have "uninstall"
The newest version can be downloaded here [link] and the link that says "Download Gimp 2.6.7" for Windows 2000 and above
Which has just made me realize my version is out of date

That is very strange - it should be working, I can't say what's wrong. Try contacting Gimp? I'm not much of a techy, I'm afraid.

The name of the layer can be anything, as long as you have the millisecond value. I just put frame one because, well, it worked at the time.

Do you have any idea how to animate with a transparent background without having the other frames/layers showing in the background? Thanks

AleriaCarventus In reply to caroro [2009-08-02 23:23:02 +0000 UTC]

No, I really don't. Sorry, this is the only animating method I know. Try asking an emoticonist, maybe.

Very helpful but i had a question. I made a new animation for my icon but the file size is too big. Is there anyway to compress a gif animation without losing any of the frames?

Best gimp animation tutorial I've seen so far.
I saw that you can't use transparent animations.....
Is it possible to make lineart on a transparent layer, color on a layer under that, make the BG white under the color layer and mix those layers so you get 1 frame... repeating the steps for the next frame?

AleriaCarventus In reply to Manah-Angel-Eyes [2008-11-09 20:41:42 +0000 UTC]

I think so. You can use transparent layers, it's just that when you animate, anything on the transparent part will show up. I'm sorry if that doesn't make a ton of sense, but if you try it you'll see what I mean. Thank you for the

Do you need to draw the second/other frames? Cant you just make it in another program and then put it there?
