Description After my recent posts, along with some past incidents, I decided to finally whip up this chart to explain some things that are likely WAY overdue.
Kailani's hybridism will be explained more later on in the comic, and also in the revamped intro in the distant future, but for the mean time this should help! Her hybridsm is only a small subplot so I never thought about explaining it before. A mistake on my part, honestly. When I started the comic I was going off of my older readers who already knew about Garin and the hybrids. It doesn't help that neither Lanians OR Lanives have appeared in the comic (another thing that will be rectified in the revamp). So it's my bad people are so confused!

The two biggest mistakes people make is:
1. That "Lanivians" were the result of Lanians and Ambivians. This is because originally they WERE. I changed this later on when I created Lanives in order to fill the role of the sub-species Lanians employ as their workers and also to more logically form a hybrid between a species closer to Ambivians in both physiology AND size. Cause let's face it, we are already stretching things allowing hybrids of this sort to happen: having it happen with a giant dinosaur is a little too much.

and 2. That regular Ambivians can somehow have the glowing orbs that Lanians and Lanives have. Ambivians DO NOT have those! I noticed this mistake happening when people have made their own Ambivian characters and through some comments and realized I really should address that. Kailani and Garin have them because of their Lanive halves (Zamora doesn't have them on her tail but she still has some on her mane).

Speaking of, the third Lanivian is Zamora, who is currently in revamp hell. Her origin as a Lanivian is different than Garin or Kailani, but I'll save that for later. You can see her old design here: The Selection - page 26

I tried to include as much on here as possible while still making things concise. I included Commoners AND Royals just to show that Garin and Kailani are half Royal specifically. I made all the Ambivians duplicate designs, not switching them up/differentiating them, in order to keep confusion down. The same applies to Lanians: Both sexes can have green or tan skin, but females are more likely to be tan. Likewise Lanives can have different shades of green. I just put the average. Including every detail in-between is too much for this sheet. You'll figure that out later, hopefully, whenever I make up their species references. Which will be OOOONE DAAAAY (not soon).

Here is an OUTDATED AND INACCURATE Lanian ref sheet for a slight bit more insight, but take the information VERY LOOSELY. IT IS NOT ALL CORRECT!!
Lanian Reference Sheet: OUTDATED

Anyway, I've rambled too long! I hope you guys find this useful and that it cleared up a lot of questions! If anyone ever has questions about my species or worlds or if anything at all confuses you, don't be shy to asking me! It might help me realize a really big problem like this one!

SO MANY THINGS LEARNED TODAY

That is especially interesting that Lanians/Ambivians cannot breed naturally AND YET Kailani is an orphan! Someone went through a lot of trouble to create her and then just dump her off! SPECULATIONSSSS

ALSO Garin has thrown us all for a loop! 8D Who'd have thought he was tan halfway down tehehehe

Still a little confuse as to why there would be cross-breeding in the first place, barring diplomatic reasons...

Alichzy gave a very good answer: hybridizing between races has become a desire for interracial parents for years. Therefore it's "in demand" as an alternative to adopting. However it's just so impossible. Mammals and reptiles, or mammals and amphibians, etc just can't cross. But science can try their damndest and when it works it only kicks off their desire. This therefore comes with a business and profitable point of view for wanting hybrids.

And of course there's other reasons that are somewhat plot-relevant but boil down to "I wonder if we can?" Lanians regularly experimented with splicing and hybridizing for no other reason than seeing if the result created something useful. They have a meat source in particular that's a cross of animals that makes good-tasting and rich meat for consumption. It's all just a horrible way to Play God. Or... Creator in this case. With all the ethical concerns included...

My guess, might be if the Lavines are an intelligent race, then like anyone else they fall in love. In most universes where there are more than one humaniod/intelligent race in existance inter-species relationships happen. An Ambivian and Lavine could fall in love and want a child of their own, even though they naturally couldn't have one.

Mass Effect is a good example of how humans can hold relationships with other alien races. Star Trek and Star Wars, as well. I mean like anyone else, eventually the two love birds may want to be parents even if they can't pass on their genetics.
