It is interesting to go back in time and read all the way up to the present; you clearly put a lot of work into the comic right from the start, even as you grew your skills! Did you go back and update "finished" things much over the course of drawing TS?

Even though I haven't published my pages yet, you'll see a similar progression. Unfortunately the trade-off for starting with a big buffer is that now the earliest pages are going to reflect my skills as of 4 years ago haha (though I've tried to limit retroactive edits to mostly continuity fixes!)

I don't think I've ever updated too many things with older pages. I did go through and rewrite a lot of the early dialogue (which is probably now also inaccurate and I need to edit them again). I specifically remember going in and editing it in so Brandon tells Tanner to stop acting like marrying older people is weird since Ambivians can live so long, therefore age is irrelevant. I rewrote that to cover up some sketchy pedophilic themes that a couple readers took out of it (that were 100% unintentional!) which I now need to redo. When the comic began, the younger royals were paired with already-adults, thus the pairs had age gaps of 20-40 years which some of my readers thought was uncomfortable. Now, however, after my rewrite, the young ones were also paired with others their age, so when it's time for them to marry they will be right-around the same age with an age gap of only 1-10~ years. There are some exceptions to this with young ones being paired with older royals, like Federico and Kailani, but it's not nearly as many as it originally was.

 And I believe I adjusted lighting on one or two? But everything else has remained entirely untouched. I do plan on completely revamping the first 20-odd pages of the comic to restructure the story, but since it's not a necessity I haven't bothered yet aha!

Gosh, I imagine! Is your comic going to be b/w or color? I feel like colored pages suffer the most comparatively in terms of noticing art growth since the rendering methods also change.

Been meaning to reply to this--Given the span of time you've being drawing TS, that makes sense you'd want to retcon some things to improve the writing. Otherwise that is pretty impressive that even the earliest pages from years ago still hold up pretty darn well in comparison to your recent pages! I suppose even if your skills improve and your rendering style evolves over time, putting solid effort into something still shows through in the long term!

As for my comic, Avania, I started it in color, but then decided that I would be better served sticking with basic greyscale initially and then releasing a color version in the future when I had more time [or a colorist lol], and I think it was a good decision because it really forced me to improve my lighting and values, as well as pushed the style with hatching in place of cell shading. That said, I have still developed my coloring skills, so I have gone back and adjusted the coloring on things that will be premiering in color.

I think you're probably right about differences in color art being more noticeable over time... But in my case the difference in black and white is a bit noticeable as I had initially designed for color, so the lineart does make a pretty big jump up in detail when I started designing just for black and white! I wouldn't mind redoing my first 20-30 pages now too, but they aren't too bad all things considered, and I've often heard the advice of "Learn and move on" rather than fall into the trap of redoing old stuff too much, so that's what I'm doing!
