i recommend downloading to see all detail. also, large file size, sorry if it takes long.

well, you guys voted and now here's the final product of that vote. took me a little while to find a suitable gas giant in the habitable zone with a remorable name, but i finally found one. this is kepler-419c a super jovian planet orbiting within the habitable zone of a star larger than our sun. i've shown it here being orbited by three moons, one of which is earth like and bigger than mars. i won't be giving much on the planet as there isn't much data on it.

so please let your eyes enjoy and leave any comments, favs or critiques,  which are always welcome and appreciated!

Description

Kepler-419c is a super jovian planet orbiting the star Kepler-419. The planet was discovered by the kepler space telescope when it caused the innermost planet of the system, planet Kepler-419b, another super jovian world to exhibit variations in its transit times from its normal transit times. The variations and there magnitudes, led astronomers to believe that a second more massive planet, planet c, was influencing the orbit the planet b, leading to planet c's discovery. The orbit of planet c places it within the star's habitable zone, which is the distance away from a star where liquid water may exist on a planet or moon's surface given the right conditions.

Planet c, due to it's high mass of 7.3 jovian masses is most likely a large gas giant similar to the planet Jupiter in our system. Despite the high mass of the planet, it is not likely to be much larger than jupiter as degenerate pressure would just increase the planet's density rather than it's size. Because of the planet's position in the system, it is likely to be a Sudarsky Class II giant planet with water clouds in its atmosphere making it very bright and dull in coloration. The planet has a mildly eccentric orbit of 0.184, which would induce large variations in temperature throughout the orbit and be the main reason for seasonal changes on the planet and any moons in orbit.

While the planet itself is not likely to host life, it, like many gas giants is likely to have an entourage of moons in orbit. Due to the high mass of the planet, one of these moons may likely be terrestrial in size and composition with an earth-like atmosphere and have a mass and radius higher than that of the planet Mars. The moon may also have a magnetic field similar to Earth's which may protect it from deadly radiation from the star and the gas giant's magnetic field.

While this planet has high hopes for supporting an earth-like moon, the star may be too massive and short-lived and putting out a lot of high energy radiation, for any advanced life to appear on the surface of a hypothetical moon.

It may be a hot Jupiter. But it is beautiful.

Wow. What did you do to make this? I've been making stars, rocky planets, and a gas giant, but this one is better than any I have.

i use photoshop. i combine different textures together and use different adjustment layers and masks to help create the image. but when i first started with photoshop, i was just plain bad. don't worry your self, in time you will be able to create space art like this too. and if you ever feel like you need help, deviantart is right here with a bunch of amazing tutorials and artists that can give you advice.
