Before this time period there were many ancient races, including ancient Humans, Precursors, Leviathans, Engineers, Isu, Martians (Doom), Forerunners, Protheans, Chozo, Tau Volantis Natives and Cybertronians who inhabited the Galaxy, and many intergalactic civilisations and organisations who had a presence in the Milky Way as well, their history is yet to be explored in detail. This is the good, or the virtuous side of the Spartan known as Jack-024. There'll be another poster soon depicting his... other side. Jack is holding up a kinetic shield using a combination of his biotic and energy manipulation (meta-gene) powers to protect these marines in a fallen pelican from a large Geth force composing of both Geth Titans (huge, mecha sized Geth larger than the primes) and the ordinary Geth Troopers.
The image and story is based on my new OC

Story:
Planet: New Harmony
Time: 2183
So, my name's Jack... don't remember my last name like most of my friends. You wanna know about this picture, right? Where was it taken? Well, you see, at this stage of my career I was being pursued by the Office of Naval Intelligence for abandoning my missions and going AWOL, I really hadn't been on the run long though, a couple months really, still settling into my new life. What I did was considered a federal offence in line with treason, despite the fact that I never volunteered for what I did. Apparently I owed them loyalty I had no choice in giving. It's like finding out your parents gave you up for adoption but instead of adoption you got to be manufactured into a sociopath. As far as I was concerned, I was a slave running from an oppressive empire, that was fighting another more oppressive empire. And I still think that. I wasn't concerned with the other Spartans who stayed and did their jobs or duty, whatever you want to call it, I understood why they did. They had good, noble reasons. I saw what the Covenant was doing everyday back when I was on the front lines, and I hated it. Despite all of my power though, I still felt powerless when it came to the war.
It didn't matter how many Sangheili I butchered, how many ships I destroyed or targets I hit, the Covenant empire just kept on coming and ONI kept throwing Spartans at it like darts at a wall... we were poking holes sure, but it wasn't going to bring the wall down. When I had that little epiphany... that no one man, no matter how much power he had, could stop something like that, I gave up. I mean I was still going to die one day right? Aren't I entitled to do it on my own terms? Or do I deserve the same fate all of those headhunters ONI uses get, an energy sword through the abdomen? That's where all of my jobs were back in the day, deep, deep in Covenant territory, I was a solo act where there was no humanity. It was lonely and I didn't like it, talking to yourself gets old. Besides, it's not like humanity was really at stake... there's no way the Federation or the Council were going to let the Covenant erase us completely, and they could have Earth. Fuck it. Earths full of rich upperclass snobs who don't give a shit about me or you. So, where was I? Oh yeah, I was hiding out on New Harmony, a nice little colony, quiet and peaceful... a couple of places to have fun at but nothing too flashy, so when the Geth showed up to cause trouble it didn't do me any goddamn favours I tell you that much. I was at a bar in civilian gear when the news hit the stations, and it pissed me the fuck off! Two goddamn weeks I'd been there and these assholes had to ruin the best day I was having so far, fuck the Geth. I ran back to my apartment at my... "unnatural speeds," raised more than a few eyebrows but luckily everyone was more concerned with the impending doom that was coming. I put on my armour as quickly as I could and took to the street to help the local UNSC boys repel the attack. The colony had a sizeable garrison of Marines who I could help out.
I ran my way towards where the Geth landed, after being on the street for five minutes I received a call on my suits personal channel from some Marine Colonel wondering what the fuck a Spartan was going on his colony. I told him I'd help him and his boys out if he didn't tell anyone above him that I was here, he was quiet for a couple seconds, I was told later that he was utterly shocked by the strange request, I immediately set off a lot of warning bells but they knew they were outmatched by the Geth, they needed me, so... politics I guess. They transmitted me the coordinates to where they thought they needed me the most.
As soon as I made it to the first wave of the assault I saw the downed Pelican, I heard over my comm that there were boys still alive and jesus fucking christ there must of been fifty Geth surrounding that thing, and half a dozen of the big, big ones, I don't mean to sound so un-modest here but a facts a fact; if I hadn't of been there those guys would of been fucked. So I jumped in-between the small army and the Pelican and put up a Biotic shield over everyone, it was a... bit more powerful than what you're used to seeing a human use, because of my augmentations and meta-gene powers, I can manipulate energy but you already knew that didn't you...? Look, I might be an asshole, a dirty deserter, but I can't just watch people die when I can do something about it. And it was starting to feel like New Harmony was my home, it was good to me so I owed it something, y'know? So no I wasn't doing it be on get anyone's good side, the UNSC owes me 34 years of my life for slave labour, I don't owe them anything. So that's where that picture you're looking at comes in. I was yelling at those crippled, sleepy semi-unconscious motherfuckers to move their godforsaken asses whilst they had the chance. I get all sentimental around my fellow troops, I can't stand the thought of leaving anyone... that's why ONI always sent me off alone.
Too bad you didn't see the next frame, where I put the shield down and blew all of those Geth away with the charged Plasma I was generating in my other hand. What more is there too tell? They deployed more Titans to fight the Titan-sized Geth, Scorpion tanks rolled down the streets, and just like what happened at Sigma Octanus not too long after the Covenant showed up after the Geth to piggyback on the trail of destruction. It wasn't too bad actually, ironically having the Geth there might of saved the colony, the two dickheads had at each other that much that what was left was totally decimated by the rest of the garrison New Harmony still had. I hear a prowler, the UNSC Razor's Edge I think, managed to attach a telemetry probe to a retreating Covenant Frigate, allowing it to track the ship and locate K7-49.... Y'know that place ONI sent 300 S3's to their death? You probably remember it as that "strategic victory" the news boasted so much about, against an "important Covenant shipyard and manufacturing planet." If News wasn't so prominent throughout the three empires we wouldn't know about half of this shit, surprisingly though, the UNSC managed to bag one of the few naval victories against the Covenant here on New Harmony, I took off after that... I had already attracted enough attention.
So, you didn't tell me who you are?

.....I remember that the Spartan program was made to handle not only the increasing hostilities between Earth and the colonies, but also the massive series of other threats such as during the Skyllian Blitz. Once the Covenant rolled in the Spartans were rushed into the fight since conventional means of fighting them was becoming far more dangerous than what they could handle plus they were already being spread thin. But even as the Covenant was at war with humanity the various insurrectionist and rebel groups either sought to aid the UNSC in this war, sought to avoid and hide, or taking advantage and strike at their weakened enemies. And given ONI's known facts of sending Spartans in do do the very dark and vile deeds now and then....I wonder if for this Spartan with not only the fact he sees the war against the Covenant being futile....was there also a mission against the human insurrectionists that opened his eyes and planted the seeds of doubt?

Perhaps, it's a possibility.

If so....that really would be an interesting story to explore. Also I can't believe that he also knows about OPERATION: PROMETHEUS (www.halopedia.org/Operation:_P… ) and poor Alpha Company (www.halopedia.org/SPARTAN-III_… ).

Yautja have ancient knowledge passed down from Hunter to Hunter, it may not be that he knows about Prometheus.

.....while I know that to be true....did you explore this link (www.halopedia.org/Operation:_P… )? This operation was the the Spartan mentioned about 300 Spartan IIIs sent on a mission to K7-49 (www.halopedia.org/K7-49 ) to destroy the Covenant shipyard on that asteroid. Why would there be Yautja involvement aside from the possibilities of Yautja observing the many battles of this war in order for them to select their prey. Plus the previous comment was referred to the Spartan not Yautja.

Oooooh I am so sorry, I thought you were talking about the movie Prometheus and on an image with the Yautja haha
For the Spartan 3 Operation, it was explained in the story itself that the operation is public. In the Halo Universe everything is kind of kep secret because the Covenant and Humanity don't really communicate with each other or share each others news because they're just two empires at war in space and don't even speak each others language for the most part, any intelligence they gather on each other is kept within their respected militaries.
However in Amalgamation you have to consider the vastly different political setting. It's more like the modern worlds interpretation with three massive super-powers and a bunch of smaller nations in the midst (Covenant Fringe species, Terminus System crime syndicates/empires, Yautja, Cybertronian, Batarian, Geth and other species that haven't been introduced or absorbed into a political super power) with all of these different empires intermingling Covenant news is shared throughout the galaxy. K7-49 would of been like if a Russian or American shipping yard got hit, the world would hear about it as it's a big site. The UNSC claimed responsibility of the attack as any significant win against the Covenant they can achieve helps there perceived standing int he war; who wants to jump in and help the losing side when they're getting owned so significantly? Owning this victory is like saying "Yeah, we can fucking hurt them, please help lol"
It's propaganda similar to how they announced the Spartans to the public. However, like the Spartans, there is a negative side to this as well.
"Okay so you won but... you just sent three hundred men and woman to their death to do it. That kinda sucks"
In the end everyone knows soldiers are meant to serve and die but for Jack he sees the governments bad side in this, trading lives for time isn't how he wants them to operate or how he wants to die.

Hopefully with the Citadel Council now accepting humans as a full Council Member (no doubt it's Anderson given that Udina can't be trusted) they can help them more effectively in the war against the Covenant. Though aside from the complications with humans on both the Citadel Council and the Galactic Federation.....will they be able to join or no for the Covenant coming after them because they harbor humans (plus other offenses) makes it inevitable.
As for the Spartan here.....I hope that not only he has his own life secured, but may help the others as well. Who knows he may even help Rhodey as an associate ally (not member for it's probably best that he be on his own for now) against the troubles plaguing the galaxy. Though will he help or continue to fight the various rebel and insurrectionist groups I don't know since every one of them have their own rulings, strategies, and morality when it comes to engaging the enemy.
