Niv crossed onto a prairie and, imagining it was littered with others like her, slowed so as not to step on them. It was a good thing she made the effort to take her time or else she would not have happened across the delicate esk weaving between the grassland’s tall foliage.

As small as they were a few of the esk supported impressive weather features. At first none of them took kindly to her, squabbling about a trespasser in their boundary, but once they saw she was quiet and meant no ill to them or theirs, they allowed her to inspect them, even showing off a little.

One looked like a turtle and could stretch its neck beyond its main bulk. Another was striped and surrounded by a gentle shower. Another supported vibrant prairie verbena and walked under a light shower. There was even a delicate brown and cream one that supported nature features that made it look like it had two antenna and ears. A cute little brown esk floated around with a youthful energy, a fluffy white tail trailing behind it.

Niv spent only a short time with them, promising to come visit again soon before she headed out across the planet again.
