Description
For WTC: Mondo Tubular. This is actually the second piece I've made--I like the first, but it only fit the theme in the most liberal interpretation, so I'll be posting it in the next couple days once I've had a chance to let it sit.Apophysis 3d 2.06, color adjustment in PSCS2.

Congrats! Like what you did with this script.. I don't think I've ever had this kind of result with those that I've messed with using =Shortgreenpigg 's script. But, I do love the interesting results that I can get from those 3-D scripts of his. Good work!! Keep it up.. It's a definite
in my book!

Well, like I said in another comment, the script is just a springboard. I spend a *lot* of time tweaking settings after I run a script before I render, because I've always had the feeling that if you use a script and then don't do anything to it, it isn't really your own work, ya know? This one had about an hour after the script in Apophysis, tweaking settings, and then 20 minutes after rendering in Photoshop, adjusting color levels (because no matter WHAT, the color you think you're getting is not what actually comes out post-render).

One thing that I like doing in Photoshop is to play around with the background color tint in order to bring out various colors in the flame.. Instead of using a black, I use a very dark color and use the slider to vary the base color. Using the layer blending options can make for interesting effects, too, I'm sure you've found playing with PS. I've even slipped in embossing sometimes. I have to try messing with the edit window with the 3D scripts one of these days. But I guess I never new where to start with those scripts.

I do that directly in Apophysis when I do the post-edit in the render. I tweak colors in the fractal itself in Photoshop.
One thing I love to do in Photoshop is to create a new layer and then make a gradient map of the fractal--it shows you exactly where your darks and lights are, so you can do some neato masking and highlighting.
As for scripts... every one is different. I usually start by moving the triangles around a bit before I mess with variations, if that helps.

Guess I've never learned the real ins and outs of Photoshop. I more or less stumble through it learning as I go. I'm not sure how one uses a 'gradient map'... The "post-edit" is also something new to me in Apophysis, too. I suppose I should try experimenting with it more. Keep up the good work!

Pretty cool, I like what you did for a flame in this style. Original as far as I am concerned.

Lo! One of the fractal gods has spoken from oh high, and they are words of praise!
I started out with =Shortgreenpigg 's script, like I'm sure everyone else will for this WTC, but then I spent a good hour or so fiddling with settings to get exactly what I wanted; a fractal that matched the title I had in mind when I started. God, I'm weird.

Hey, that's how it should be done. If you use a script, try to get something even more out of it.
You're very welcome.
