UPDATE: This is a bit out of date now - A text version of the important stuff can be found towards the end of this forum post; [link]ANOTHER UPDATE! Two new things for this - a page detailing the light green part of this image, and a text version of this, listing the length of each segment and where it got used. See them here: [link]
and here: [link]
Okay, this is going to sound confusing.
People who have read trivia for The Land Before Time will know that several scenes were cut from the film, due to being apparently too scary. These scenes are presumably lost forever.
Evidence however, remains on the rare soundtrack of the movie (Which I am lucky enough to own), of where such scenes may have been placed in the movie, and when comparing this to the film, where new tracks (or Remixes) have been added. To aid people in finding evidence, I have made this analysis of the music in the film. Each pixel line represents one second of music in the film.
Please note, this is not finished, but I am posting it here in case I get sidetracked and don't finish it. Music buffs/LBT enthusiasts out there, I leave this to you.
Oh, and if you want to see the last evidence of the deleted scenes, pictures and clips can be found here:

(By the way, the first picture on the forum is definitely a fake. The person has just added the animation from "Mother? Is this all there is to eat?" and placed it over a shot of the divide.)
As for notes of interest, Track 2 Part 2 is almost certainly the music for the lost fight scene. (If you want to hear this and you don't have the soundtrack, rent out LBT 6. This track plays while Grandpa Longneck battles a Sharptooth towards the end. It starts off as the same track, and then you will hear the missing part.)
Track 3’s sole cut track takes place after the berry scene. It sounds like something exploded out of the ground after all the little pterosaurs, but they all got away.
Track 5 is really several shorter tracks placed into one. Interestingly, they are all out of order, as (Ignoring the cut parts) the scenes would go in this order: Meeting Ducky+Petrie, Travelling To The Valley (After finding Spike), Trying to get Petrie to fly, Cera meets Sharptooth, and Ducky sent flying. There is a longer intro to the Travel scene, and this could be where the “Finding Spike” cut scene went. Initially, I thought that the original placement of the music suggested that Cera retold her story of meeting Sharptooth via flashback, setting it up for his reveal later, but after noticing the out of order placement of everything, I abandoned that theory.
Track 6 is definitely the most interesting. The first green bit marked is actually the end scene of the film, and if you listen to the whole track, you can tell that originally, Littlefoot found the great valley, and then turned back to save everyone. Later on, when in the lake, he then (possibly) explained why killing Sharptooth was necessary. Then, even later on, led them to the entrance. Two scenes in the finished film hint at this. One, when Sharptooth is climbing the rocks near the valley, the air is greener and cleaner to the right side of the screen, and plants are growing on the rocks. Since in the original ending they killed Sharptooth to prevent him entering the valley, this may be evidence. Two, when Littlefoot sees the apparition of his mother, you can see a lake below him. Between the rock he is on, and the one to the side of the screen is a flat area. This is the place they push the rock off onto Sharptooth’s head, and if you look, you can see that the rock is still there, evidence to the original order of the film.
Strangely enough, the majority of Track 7 does not get used in the film. Some of it seems to be a remix of Track 6. This may have been used in the Green area marked though.
Right, that’s enough of that for now. If I discover anything new, I will update this page. And to anyone out there who wants to continue this, Go Ahead! You may unearth more than me, and at last all the missing scenes will be found.
(If someone was determined enough, they could probably draw and animate replacement scenes for the film.)
EDIT: I need to update this, I now have a vague list of the other music, but not a lot of it. Plus, upon listening to it again, I noticed that the end of Track 6 doesn't include the reunion scene. The music jumps from Ducky and Spike in the water to Littlefoot finding his Grandparents. I think a good deal of that scene is actually the "Alternate Recording" that I mentioned from Track 7. It might be repeated, but I'll need to check that out first.

DUDE! I have GROUNDBREAKING news concerning the original film's cut scenes.
We found the script!!!!!
drive.google.com/file/d/194ERb…
At 71 pages long and from May 1987, it contains never-before-seen cut scene dialogue, including the Sharptooth vs Littlefoot's Mother fight's missing parts, and new scenes and info. Every single scene cut from the film is contained in this, except the scene where Littlefoot is attacked by a snake, and every rearranged scene isn't rearranged in the script.

You've gotta review this buddy! This may alter your soundtrack analysis quite a bit!
Lost Media Archive page has been updated, it could help a bit. lostmediaarchive.wikia.com/wik…
I discovered some new cels too around the time we on the Gang of Five found the whole script. One is of Littlefoot's mother yelling in pain from the extended fight scene (which is in the script!), here's the image:

And there's more where the cel came from: landbeforetime.wikia.com/wiki/…

Track 2 also has edited music when Littlefoot and Cera are hiding from Sharptooth in the briars. It sounds different than in the soundtrack.

Hmm, which part exactly? I'll need to listen to it again soon...and I need to update this picture; the initial analysis had a few mistakes in it which I summed up here;
Land Before Time Analysis Pt3The Great Migration
TOTAL 07:53:00 - Music plays unbroken from start of film to Littlefoot's Birth.
Sharptooth & The Earthquake
Part One: 07:39:00 - Continues from previous track; finding the Treestar to Littlefoot's Mother defending Littlefoot and Cera.
Part Two: 00:19:00 - Cut Music - Sharptooth/Littlefoot's Mother Fight Scene.
Part Three:02:37:00 - Remainder of scene; Sharptooth battle to Earthquake.
TOTAL: 10:35:00
Whispering Winds
Part One: 04:25:00 - Littlefoot's Mother's death to end of Berry Scene.
Part Two: 00:09:00 - Cut Music - Music is rather chaotic, as if something chased away the young pterosaurs.
Part Three:04:29:00 - Remainder of scene; Refusing Berry to Cera falling.
TOTAL: 09:03:00
If We Hold On Together
Part One: 00:14:00 - Cut Music - Song opening.
Part Two: 03:56:00 - Song used over End Credits.
TOTAL: 04:10:00
Foraging For Food
Part One: 02:55:00 - Ducky meeting Littlefoot to Petrie falling from tree.
Part Two: 00:05:00 - Rearranged Music - Actually can't remembe
I also speculated about a "Lost Track", since there's a huge chunk of unfamiliar music between 34:19 and 48:09 in the film;

Sorry for late reply.
It is definitely in the first part. When they are hiding from Sharptooth there's added music in the background. Same for when Sharptooth charges at Littlefoot's mom the first time.

Also, I believe the lost fight scene's cut music may be 16 seconds and not 19 seconds, as if you go three seconds past 16, it'll start to play music that is in the movie.

Hello there. On the Gang of Five we sent an e-mail to Mark Pudleiner concerning the deleted scenes, and he responded. He asked Gary Goldman about it. Some things we learned:
-The film was to be 80-82 minutes long
-The sharptooth edits were done in April or May of 1988
-The sharptooth scenes that we have storyboards of were actually fully animated, but were apparently not saved when they were taken back to Dublin
Check out the analysis I made here: z7.invisionfree.com/thegangoff…
It tells you a lot more than what I just mentioned. I hope you are still on Deviantart to see this.

After I looked at your guide I managed to get a hold of the Rescue/Discovery of the Great Valley track and managed to cut and rearrange it so it sounds like it does in the movie. I didn't know of the original idea for the story/ finding the Great Valley, so I wanted to experience the music like I remembered from childhood. (:
Thanks for this detailed guide of such a beautiful soundtrack!

Hey, I've read your guys' thread and I'm not sure if this does anything at all but you guys keep mentioning that in the original release of LBT you could actually see Sharptooth bite down on Littlefoot's mother's neck but it was later edited so that you could only see the shadows.
Well I was watching this: [link]
There are some very obvious shots of her with a wound on her neck.

Yeah, they didn't cut the scenes where you could see the wounds, just the parts where the wounds were caused.

I have the soundtrack and have played it along with the movie and I've found that in the Whispering Winds little explodie bit is where the mommy pterodactyl gave the cherry's to the babies. The current cut had repeated a bit of music.

Very Interesting! I recently listened to Track 3 of the Land Before Time soundtrack, I get what you mean when you said it sounded like "something exploded out of the ground" I was freaked out when the track went quiet and then went BOOM! right into this frantic theme...
Nice analysis!
