“Animal Protein Supplement: When the Meat Bites Back”

Protoceratops hellenikorhinus, generic Alioramine tyrannosaur. An acrylic painting of a pair of Protoceratops attempting to take down a wandering juvenile Alioramine tyrannosaurid.

The second part of my loose “Animal Protein Supplement” series, this was a revisit of an old drawing I did back in 2017, only with more detail. I decided to give the male Protoceratops some quill-like structures on the frill, something as an analog to the more boney ornamentation more derived ceratopsians would develop to adorn their frills further.

The juvenile Alioramine was basically based on the Prehistoric Planet’s Qianzhousaurus (which is a beautiful design).

I’m already working on the third installment of the series, involving a certain Late Cretaceous nodosaur.

Completed in early July 2022.

Done using acrylics, color pencils, and Photoshop 2021.
