Description
"Dire wolf study"Canis dirus. A digital painting of a dire wolf, an extinct species of canid from ancient North America.
A slightly larger and more robustly built version of its smaller relative, the gray wolf (canis lupus), which still exists today.
Completed on the 25th of July 2012.
Updated on the 26th of July 2012.
Done using pencils and Photoshop CS5.

Nice! I have planned to do a Dire wolf model for a while. I've been working with real wolf last two months (dead animal, which I am going to ount or "stuff"it so to speak), which have been a epic journey into a canid anatomy. Only minus thing was that the whole thing smelled like dog shit when I was skinning that poor animal.

Hope I get to do something like that while I'm with the Academy of Art in SanFran.
My friend who majors in Fine Art got to see cadavers at a dental college last semester for her human anatomy class.
Me, I'm hoping the animal anatomy class gets to do something similar
