Description
"The Forest Revenant"Tyrannosaurus rex, Didelphodon vorax, Dakotaraptor steini. An acrylic painting of a lurking Tyrannosaurus at night.Β
I started this painting in late December, after getting the idea from seeing a classmate's wonderful night scene in a forest. I got as far as painting the background in late January but put it on hold when I discovered my dog, Thor, had cancer. I didn't finish it up until two weeks ago.
I referenced the photos I had taken on my various trips to Muir Woods to get ideas. This is a sort of a spiritual sequel to my previous painting of a Quetzalxoatlus stalking the woods looking for a baby Triceratops fav.me/d8qgqak . It's been a while since I used my Badger airbrush this extensively for the atmosphere and blending.Β
Completed in late March 2016.
Done using acrylics, color pencils, and pastels.

This is amazing! I love the way the rex's eyes seem to glow; it gives the scene an almost mystic quality.
