Description
So, to go with the Jerec mug I made, I whipped up some Jerec sprites! The one on the left is Jerec as he appears in my short story, Ashes of War, which is before he resigned from the Daein army. The sprite on the right is Jerec in the sequel, The Secret Sword, after he resigned. He got rid of his armor and bought just about all new attire. All he kept, really, was his satchel and lance.
So he's no longer a Halberdier. He just wanders Crimea looking for some mercenary work and honing his lancing skills. I guess you could say he's now a Freelancer. XD

Freelancer? Oi, that's quite a pun. Still, it's interesting the way you altered his post-Daein sprite to reflect his new status. It looks kinda like you modified the assassin sprite, with his stance and the cloak, but I could be mistaken. The way you handled the halberdier sprite also continues to come out very well. So, just for the sake of clarity, the right-hand Jerec sprite is NOT a Sentinel? If so, maybe we should come up with a name. Or, should we keep the term Freelancer as both a title and a running gag? I think and might like the idea.
Jerec: That'll be 3,000...hey, don't give me that look! Being a Freelancer doesn't mean I work for free!
Anyhow, yon sprite reminds me, how is the conclusion of TSS coming along? Well, in any case, thanks for doing this and for developing Jerec beyond my expectations. Catch you later.

Yep, I modified the Assassin sprite. And yeah, in one sprite Jerec is a Halberdier, and in the other, he's a Freelancer as I've said. And yeah, I love the pun.
LOL I'd love that to be a running gag! I'll do it! XD
As for how TSS part 5 is coming along, I've been having trouble putting the cave scenes into words...

By that, do you mean when they first arrive in the cave to find the old settlement or the part with the river? If the problem is the former, it might be possible to skip ahead to what happens after the group sizes up their surrounding and then come back to the description later.

All of them, actually... But I'm super motivated now thanks to watching the Super Bowl and seeing the Giants win (second time they defeated the Patriots in a Super Bowl too, woot. The Giants aren't my favorite, but I like them), so I should get some more of the chapter done tonight. :]
And sometimes I do skip ahead, but I don't feel like it this time...

Glad to hear that. My folks weren't exactly pleased at the outcome but I'm guessing Betsy was happy, since she lives in New York these days. Let me know if there's anything I can do with the chapter and catch you later.

Perhaps, but it's also possible that Betsy likes the Jets, seeing as they're also New York. I myself hate the Jets, but yeah.

Truth be told, I don't follow football myself. And, even if I did, I'm always dead tired on Sundays. Still, I'm glad you had your fun.

Heh, I do! I don't follow college football, but I enjoy the NFL a lot. The suspense and wondering what's going to happen next play, next game, next Super Bowl is awesome.
I'm related to a college football player, btw. My cousin plays for one of the South Carolina universities. I don't remember which one though. Still, this means he could later be drafted into the NFL! Being the first cousin of an NFL player would be totally awesome for me, especially if Brian got one of the teams I cheer for, namely the Steelers!

Oh freelancer... That was the name for a class I was using in Storm of Shadows.
And also the reason I call Xane a Chameleon, like he's originally known.

Oh? I was half-joking when I called Jerec a Freelancer, but I was considering making it his actual new class since it sounded so clever. xP
Ah, well, I kinda thought others might have used it for a class anyway.

Yep. When I designed my character, she certainly didn't have the characteristics of a soldier. So I decided to call her a freelancer, which my friend Steph immediately perceived as a class like Xane's. I forgot that I'm one of the [relatively] few people that have done immense research on the original FE I and III.
But anyway, said character has recently been shoved through the class change machine and is now a myrmidon. Though I think I'll still keep her second tier the same.

Yep. Original promotion was to a combatant, which is essentially a class that can wield swords and lances. Similar to a dismounted Falconknight stat wise, I guess.

Ah, I see. In Jerec's case, he wouldn't promote. He'd just go up to level 60, since that's the same number of levels any character gets throughout three class tiers (twenty per class) in FE.
