Some critique for you: It's a frustrating tutorial that looks great but lacks any useful instruction. You haven't said how much water you're adding with the paint at each stage; for example, how strong the mix is, what its consistency is. You haven't mentioned how you do highlights and shadows... Do you deliberately leave white / lighter areas earlier on and then neglect to paint over them? Do you use masking fluid or tape? Are the shadows original colours (i.e. sap green) mixed with a darker colour (i.e. blue) or just with less water added to make it darker? Did you work from a photograph and if so where is it?Β
I'm sorry but as lovely a picture it is it just isn't a good tutorial.Β

I remember asking you to make one of these awhile back. Thank you very much for doing it! Your work is brilliant as always, and I like the reference of the brush used for each step. If you wanted to enhance this even further, you could step back a bit, and take photos of your hand making the brushstrokes - to show just what motions you're doing. Also, talk a little about the paper you use, how fast it dries (how to keep colors from bleeding), how much water you use, your palette, and then how you keep those bits of white between the dark shadows.

Really good tutorial. The trees in the middle ground and perhaps the shrubbery in the foreground could have little more layers and detail added to enhance the richness you are developing within the overall picture. At present, maybe the middle ground is still a bit light on - like, it is still quite transparent where the background paper colour is still quite evident, and is almost still the same as the distant workings. I would like to have seen just one more developmental picture added to finalise the piece. Mind you, these are just my thoughts. The work is good.

Thank you so much! It is a great to see the step that it takes you to do a piece.
You make it look so easy.
