So this tutorial is giving you a closer look into how I created this piece [link] from start to finish. Since some of you seem fairly curious...
I should have called this the pre-amble, but I figured I should still keep it. The next few should be more "interesting," but there you have it.
Hope it answers some questions.... took hours to create this.

This tutorial is very helpful! Bit what did you make this on? A canvas or paper?

What kind of pencil do you use for the sketches? Do you have any advice for making thin lines?

I'm honestly so happy you created this - you not only help provide techniques but just help with products and WHY you like them. I love your work and I just can't express how happy I am you made this! I JUST got into traditional and I am going in blind (well not so blind as I feel photoshop has taught me a little something).

Eee, look at those little Tjardek sketches! That really is a good tip, and something I should do more often! It really shows in your finished work, they are well thought out
I also really admire you patience to start with the background. I get so impatient when it comes to art sometimes and find myself rushing to paint the interesting parts first like the subject.

Sometimes I have to remind myself to stop the sketching and figure out what my final will be!
Aw, I do it all the time. I have to force myself (and threaten, sometimes) to do the background first, otherwise... whoops!
Speaking of which, I'm working on the background for Nadiev!

Eee, sounds awesome
Haha, I think i'm just afraid most of the time if I screw up the background first I'll just have to start over and get un-inspired. But I think I really need (want!!) to have a go at an acrylic painting again now. Ooo, gotta find some time

Damn you depress me. That's exactly what we do at school but i'm far too lazy to be that technical normally.

It takes a fair amount of self threatening for me to get through these pieces...
That, and I think I've had it beaten into me.
