Description I recently got "Lords of Madness" D&D book and I was really impressed with the Grell. Not only are they one of the races that has been in every "Monster Manual" but they also look like some monster you'd find in a 1950's drive in horror movie! I did this little sketch in about 15 min at work and I'll finish it when I get more time.

I love grells, because they are in every aspect H. G. Well's Martians (from "War of the Worlds") minus the eyes, that is.

I actually planned to run War of Worlds aftermath from GURPS Horror in witch some of Martians survive and continue to plague England (and World) from ruins of London... I am great fan of Well's but I have yet to gather players that will show interest in my campaign...

This thing is pretty cool. Can't seem to recall if I've ever seen the "Lords of Madness" but gotta love the classic monsters
Can't wait to see the finished product.

Well, they are about as intelligent as humans, unless they were not raised by other Grell (In which case they are feral and will attack anything wildly). The tentacles of the Grell are covered by needle like hairs that can cause paralysis. The more intelligent Grell can even use magic and items!

(All this is from Monster Manual 2 and Lords of Madness....and my 5 ranks in dungeoneering :-P)

Its very good! Theres one adventure called "The sunless Citadel" and in it you team up with some Kobolds and help them rescue their dragon (a baby dragon they worship like a god) from a band of goblins. Its a really cool adventure and I highly recommend taking a look at it.
