Description This was one of my favorite parts of the movie. I about almost died when they went split screen it was so funny/cute. Ned is my favorite in this picture and while Horton is okay, he looks like a shady blob in this picture (according to my parents when I asked them to look at it...) I think I might draw three more pictures of this scene but I don't know yet. This was with a regular HB pencil and wait... hold on... a ruler! Yes!

"And I'm getting closer than I ever thought I might..."

Another well done character likeness! I think they both look great and dead-on accurate. I love this scene too. They harmonize well.

I second that motion! Huzzah!!! Man, those poor movie theatre people... ^^ But wouldn't that be totally awesome?! We would cheer, laugh, and cry in all of the right places, and no one would feel silly! That is a great idea, dude!
I went to a Presbyterian youth conference called Triennium, and we saw some clips from movies that demonstrated "hope" and everyone (4200 teenagers) cheered and stuff, it was totally awesome, this would be just like that, so cool! >'.'< miau

Just outta curiousity, (did I spell that right?) What does 'miau' mean?

btw, my name's Storm.

*points at icon* Luna likes pudding. XD Just watched it for the first time since I saw it in theaters, she's loopy. LoL

I will join your petition! ^^
And I wish we had those types of things where I come from; I had to travel across the country to go to that conference. ^^ >'.'< miau

Horton's so cute! And Ned is SO Sexy in this pic!!! I LOVE IT!! Do you happen to have the screen cap for this scene? OMG that'ed rock! Anyway! Cuuute!

anijess3 In reply to Princess-Kraehe [2008-04-24 23:30:46 +0000 UTC]

I have a screen cap that I used as a reference for this as well as three others, but they are very pixelly so it was tricky getting this picture the way I wanted, Horton is very illegible in the pictures I have that's why I was so worried about the way he turned out. I was thinking of drawing the other three, but I'm also worried that that would be overkill. Lemme know what you think... ^^ >'.'< miau

I got the screen caps from a YouTube video of this scene before it was taken off of the website for copyright reasons, so I'm sorry but it's not there anymore. 3:

I loved this scene so much! I was laughing so hard i couldn't breathe. Everyone was staring at me (even the little kids I was surrounded by), they thought it was *touching*, not funny. T.T
They were spoilsports. Let us fans have our fun!
Love this picture! Great drawing + great scene =

*Blushes* Thank you oh so much! I was practically rolling out of my chair as well from all of the laughter!!! I think a well used split screen is pure brilliance. And any scene where Steve Carell is singing... well... *Squeee* yay! Thank you so much! I'm glad this picture tickled your fancy! >'.'< miau

You're welcome ^^
It's no fun watching this movie when you're being shushed by a bunch of serious people, so I'm gonna buy it on DVD (even if it's $1000, I NEED THIS MOVIE) and watch it over and over again.
Steve Carell actually a pretty good singer judging by this movie, and I also liked Sally ^^
The split screen was amazingly genius, and it was so funny! One of my favourite parts of the movie!

I say "Poo-poo to serious people." If you were that tightly strung you shouldn't go to a Dr. Seuss movie advertised with some of the funniest actors! ^^ I should have a HHAW party when the DVD comes out. We have some sweet Who-snacks! Heck yes! >'.'< *miauyopp* special edition miau

Ooooh, special edition miau! *basks in the golden glow of the miau*
I SO would have a HHaW party if my parents let me, i have green food clouring to make green eggs ^^
and i could probably get some cardboard cut outs, i have connections ^^ (*sneaks into the movie theater and takes them all*)
I know, but probably they just looked for the first kid-appropriate movie that wouldn't make them sick.
But HHaW was mch better than the Cat in the Hat looked, i didn't even WANT to see that one...
It took me about 3 commercials for me to get obsessed with this movie, and my mum was tired of reminding me to ont watch too many youtube videos in case i manage to put together the whole movie.
I was REALLY shcoked when i saw that one where they sang, i was completley unprepared so i was shaking with hyperness of hearing it!
Then my dad told me to get a life and not get so obsessed with cartoons.
But the singin was better in the movie (obviously^^)

anijess3 In reply to ragdolljazz [2008-04-12 05:38:37 +0000 UTC]

I agree, I didn't want to see the Cat in the Hat, but I have to admit, some of the clips they showed did look funny. It is awesome to be obsessed with cartoons! You can be in their own little world for a bit, and you don't have anything to worry about. ^^ Thanks for all of the wonderful comments, they make me smile! >'.'< miau

ragdolljazz In reply to anijess3 [2008-04-12 21:07:08 +0000 UTC]

I LIVE in cartoon worlds basically, they're so superiour to our own. Especially since they don't have pollution to worry about unless the creators want them to.
Yeah, some did look funny, but the rest didn't look that great... But the book was always a favourite of mine, i think it's still in my bookcase....
I love being obsessed with cartoons, plus you don't have to see them in magazins with other people, or see them in movies that is completley different than the character you got obsessed with. They're always the same ^^
You're very welcome ^^

What part of the movie was that? I can't remember.

anijess3 In reply to GeneralOctavious [2008-04-05 22:59:21 +0000 UTC]

This is at the very end when they all start singin' "I Can't Fight this Feeling Anymore." This particular picture is when the split screen forms and Ned and Horton duet in the part "And I'm getting closer than I ever thought I might!" Thus the title, with a "Who" question just because I'm a dork, cuz technically it would be right without the question mark... *giggle* Thanks for commenting. ^^ >'.'< miau

I was crying too... 3: even though I have the original version and know what would happen. But I thought that that was a great climax to JoJo's character! He did have a slick voice!

I felt like such a dork; sitting there in a crowded movie theater crying over Dr. Suess characters.

anijess3 In reply to GeneralOctavious [2008-04-06 04:16:22 +0000 UTC]

They deserve to be cried over! All of those poor Whos. After all, even if you can't hear or see them at all, a person is a person no matter how small. ^^ You were the true fan, then, if you cried. ^^

Wouldn't it be somethin' if all of the dA Horton Hears A Who fans all went to the same theatre to see the movie, I bet the attendants wouldn't know what to do. All the cheering and crying, they would know "We Are Here!"
Thanks so much for all the comments! >'.'< miau

That'd be the best, most awesomest circus I ever saw!!! And it would be twice as awesome because there would be no clowns... (sorry if in real life you are a clown, ya never know, I've met some in real life and they are pretty cool, plus the Cirque du Soleil clowns are neat, but other than those, I am kinda freaked out by clowns) ^^

Wow! Major tangent! ^^ >'.'< miau

Thank you so very much. I am already a big fan of the split-screen effect, but the way it was used in this scene was pure brilliance and hilarity! I'm glad you like this *smiles * Plus I think it's too funny that Ned/Steve Carell did the high harmony in this part. I just dig this scene totally. Thanks for the nice comments!! >'.'< miau

I know, isn't it cute? I love it when there are moments like that, that deserve a split screen and it actually works well. I really like the part, too, right before JoJo starts wailin' when it shows all the Whos singing and Ned's dance-move-jazz-hands. I think it was a cute touch.
