I'm Dr. Delbert Doppler, the noted astrophysicist. Perhaps you've heard of me. No? I have a clipping.Once again, my titling hath been thwarted. The real title is much more excited: Off to the Spaceport!
This was our Treasure Planet cosplay for the first day of Kumoricon 2009.

It was so fun. I think the best part was the surprising amount of Treasure Planet fans we encountered. I didn't think it would still be as popular.

Aw maaaan. Now I'm super bummed I didn't go this year! I would have FREAKED OUT. I love Doppler! Did you make the nose/ears? If not, where did you get them?

I originally began making my own ears, but the process I was using was incredibly time-consuming and much more effective in creating short ear tips like if you wanted to make elf ear tips, and I realized it would just be a better idea to buy some pre-made ones.
I did a lot of searching for prosthetics online so I have lots of good stock sites now, but I'll just show you where I got the stuff I used in this particular costume. But if you're interested in any more, I'm happy to share them with you. ^^
Okay... Let me think... I ordered the nose off of the internet, and then it turned out the company was based in Hillsboro, so I was able to pick it up when I got there for the con (which was quite convenient, though they do ship as well) here's the link to that site: [link] (This was the nose I ordered, however there was a little mix-up and I got the lion one instead... Oh well. I bought the ears at a costume and joke shop in a town much nearer to where I live, but I think the brand is Woochie and their prosthetics are very easy to come by. I got the long goblin ear things here: [link] I'm not sure if these were the exact same ones, but they do look very similar. I then used Gorilla Glue (the clear kind) to glue them down so they looked like Delbert's floppy dog ears, then I used the make-up I got to make them the same color that I was using for my skin and my nose. I colored them pink on the inside too! X3 I hope this helped!

It truely is a great movie. Definitely one of my personal favorites as well.
And yeah, I went to Kcon this year. I had a pretty good time myself despite the terrible location. It was a good con for hanging out and catching up. (:

That's what I heard from a lot of people. It was a great meet-up, but not a great con. I disliked the space as well, I don't think the people who chose that location understood that cons are not all about the panels, it's mostly about cos"PLAYING" around with people in the center. That was the thing I missed the most, and also the hardest to explain. I like the "quiet" places in most cons when you can fool around with people and really roleplay your characters. I know what you mean. There was NO place to sit around and hang. Me and my group of friends kept getting told to move because we couldn't ait anywhere. It was annoying. ><;
And I cosplayed quite a few characters, actually! The first day I was Sheik from Zelda for a couple of hours and then I changed into Tsukasa from .Hack//Sign. The next day I was Hibari from Hitman Reborn and then later I changed into Duo from Gundam Wing. I am glad I went myself, I just wish there was a little more going on. XD Which is why I plan on getting myself a table in artist's alley next year.

I totally know what you mean. The venue was so frustrating! The first day the three of us were there, we couldn't find where anything was, and it turned out the panels we were looking for were in a completely different building! Plus when we would stop to look around to get our bearings, or to take pictures and stuff, the staff would tell us to keep moving. I didn't understand why... Yay for comfy shoes! I know! One time, we walked inside from the rain and we were standing for MAYBE three seconds in front of the doors -- a whiles away to let others in -- and we were told to move.
And I hated the whole guards blocking that ramp up to the bathrooms and the stupid detour we had to take to get downstairs! Ugh! I'm so sad that it's there again next year.

It's there again next year? Well that's rubbish. My friend said it was usually at the Double Tree hotel but they couldn't host it this year (or something - I don't really know). Let's hope that next year will be better, at least, because they may have worked out some of the kinks this year. >'.'< miau Jess
