A bit different Vriska Serket robot arm tutorial: Part 2 - The Colors~ NO COMMISSIONS ~
Part 1 - The Glove anniina85.deviantart.com/art/V…
OH GOG. This took longer than I expected! I'm sorry for the delay. ;-; traveling, school exams, social life.. you know the drill. But now it's here!
I explained pretty much EVERYTHING in this part, so this might sound like a tutorial for dummies haha. I just wanted to be thorough and explain ALL the pros and cons I went through with this process. ALL OF THEM. I hope this'll be helpful on your own path of Vriska cosplay~ <3

This is really helpful for me 'cos I'm cosplaying as Vriska and I didn't want to make it out of foam.

Amazing!! How do you think this would work with sharpies instead of copics?

I'm not sure what commission means. I want to make this for my sister for her birthday, but she would likely see me making it for her plus I am a terrible drawer. Can you make one and sell it to me? Somewhere in $5-$8?

commission means making and selling it to someone.
so no, she won't do that.

Is there a reason it should be Copic markers? like do they work better on fabric or...? I'm wondering if regular Sharpie markers would work.

Oh my god that looks amazing!
Thanks so much for making this- I'm cosplaying Zombiestuck Jake English, and he got his arm chopped off so he wouldn't become a zombie after one took a chuck out of his arm- so Dirk built him a robot one.

this is utterly amazing.. i am trying to see my options for a metallic arm and this could very well be the winner. Thank you!

This looks freaking impossible! XD I will try anyway! Never really done any real-life shading on an object, let alone using pens, but I will certainly try!

She took some fabric and attacked it to the glove so she could loop it around her shoulder and under her arm as well. Theres a diagram in there somewhere.

Your tutorial is great! I used it for my winter soldier arm, and my friends thought it was a great idea instead of fabricating something bulky.
Just one question though, is there a way to lock the copic ink into the stocking before it gets washed? the heat in atlanta, georgia was more then I was expecting. x.X

Copic marker probably comes out in the wash, right? (not completely but I imagine the colors would run together/fade a bit)
Do you think fabric markers would be an alternative since they're supposed to be permanent?
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
Anniina85 In reply to Tricksterkat209 [2014-06-01 18:04:14 +0000 UTC]
yeah I wouldn't wash it. all the wear will fade the colors a bit too, around the fingers mostly, but nothing u couldn't fix with redoing a few lines.
well, the fabric markers won't stay well in synthetic fibers so I don't believe it to make much difference when working with tights, so still I'd go with copics, for the handy and soft blending nibs at least.

the copic marker i have is permanent and it only comes off with ALCOHOL
so dont like pour a bottle of alcohol over it and im pretty srue nobody will but were homestucks yeah we hoemstucks probably do that
but im jsut saying dont pour a giant bottle of alcohol on it.

I'll be doing a vriska cosplay for next holloween, so this was a life saver! I'm going to have one of my friends wear the glove while I color the upper arm, just so I don't end up totally screwing up.

The copic markers won't wash out if the arm is put into the washer, will they? *Has never used copics before lol*

Are there any specific items you would recommend to use when drawing on the tights for being about the same size as your arm? I'm curious because I either want to try to find something, or I may just commandeer one of my friends arms....

Anniina85 In reply to KhaririMoon [2014-04-27 11:02:22 +0000 UTC]
umm, if you have the guidelines drawn while the glove on, then you can finish it by using, like, a piece of cardboard inside it to stretch it out enough to make the drawing easier

Does the marker last well? Did it fade at all or bleed onto any other fabric? I'm thinking about giving it a try but I'm checking out all the pros and cons first!

Anniina85 In reply to eliza0889 [2014-04-15 22:24:16 +0000 UTC]
I didn't notice bleeding but yes, it fades a little from the wear, as the fabric takes damage so does the color. After a few wears I had to do over the black parts of some fingers but other than that, it's fine

I'm currently making these, and they're turning out amazingly so far! The only thing I'm sort of struggling with is the front wrist though, since there was never a close-up or anything for that part, only the back part :/ So I'm just gonna wing it based on the full arm photo!

Do you think something like a black sharpie and grey crayola markers would work? My parents are cheap, so I can't get copic markers.
Love the tutorial by the way

well it's up to you to try it out, or convince your parents heh. All I know is that copics work.
thanks! <3
