Description
This was drawn as a request by someone on one of the media platforms I used. I do know her, but I can't contact her anymore...Moving along, Scorchwing was a young dragon that lived his family somewhere in the wilderness. As he was in his teenage years, an ambush was orchestrated on him and the other dragons. Luckily, he was the only one who escaped until a group of cowboys had caught him with their lassos. He was raised on a ranch where he was constantly, and unfortunately used to be the next mount for any other cowboy that would ride him successfully. Scorchwing did learn to buck while examining the horses, and in doing so he threw off every rider that attempted. But when Brandon came along, there may be a chance where the young cowboy would try and soothe the wild dragon...

Scorchwing nods and continues on, passing more uneventful stalls before coming to one that holds an older dragon with dark brown scales and red eyes.
He seems scared of you, scorchβs rider, but interested in his new leader,

"Ohh, he doesn't like me? I don't get why, but I might have to give him some space."

Scorchwing nods and leans his head in, gently pressing his forehead to the older dragonβs before continuing on.
You pass even more stalls and youβre starting to run out of interesting dragons.
Next up is one even larger then Scorchwing with a soft yet deep purple colored scale pattern with golden eyes. Looks like he was next in line for leader before Scorch took over.

"Whoaaa... He's bigger than you. But I do gotta say, I think I know what to do with these guys. Maybe I'll divide them into three separate groups. One group will help out on the farm, the next group will be trained for riding, and the third group can be raised as rodeo broncos. How about it?"

Scorchwing thinks for a moment before carving something into the ground.
4 squares.
One with a saddle, one with a bucking stick horse, one with a plow, and one with a home.

"Oh, I guess you came up with a fourth then. Maybe these guys need someone who'd want to keep them. How about we go check out those particular dragons that we checked on?"

He nods and winds back around.
The old leader sniffs at you both again, offering you his head to pat.

Brandon then pets his head. "He looks like a strong dragon. Maybe I'll have him help with farmwork. Check."

You move on to the younger green dragon, who is a grown up, just younger then most of the others.

"I think that dragon can be used for riding. I might have someone kind to work with this young fella. Check."

You move along to the brown elder.

"Oooh, I think I'll sign him up for the next rodeo in town. I might wanna ride him first and see what he does. Check."

Scorch shakes his head and walks back to the four squares he drew, pointing to the fourth one with the home in it, then to the one with the saddle in it.

"You mean that dragon needs a home instead?" Brandon was confused.

He nods.
You look back at the brown dragon and realize just how bad of a shape heβs in. Heβs not going to last too much longer, and trying to get him into the rodeo business will just kill him faster.

"I think you're right. Maybe he does need someone to aid him."

Scorchwing nods and smiles, walking back over to the purple dragon, who snorts a little as you approach, dark smoke rolling from his nostrils.

"Oh now this guy has to be a bronc for sure. I'll ride him first thing when I get a chance."

Scorchwing nods and walks back towards his stall.
You can pull him in a different direction to do something else or let him rest while you work with someone else.

Brandon sighed with relief after going over the list. "Hey, how about we ride outside? We'll do some riding in the corral, so put on a good performance."

He nods and heads out, following your orders perfectly.

Thwy were in the middle of the corral, as Brandon then had Scorchwing watch a horse prance around, then spin in circles. It was a common form of western riding. "All you have to do is start up slow, then trot and gallop in the corral. Next you'll spin around as fast as you can, and then you resume galloping. Alright? Think of this as a friendly rodeo event!"

He nods and scrapes his front left paw through the dirt.

"Giddyup!" Brandon then only holds onto the reins with one hand. He braces himself for the ride.

He swings into an intense gallop, spinning circles, almost throwing you as he starts.

"Yeehaw! C'mon you big ol' ex-rodeo star!"

He speeds up and you fly off of his back onto the dirt as he turns to leave the spiral.
As soon as he notices you down, he slows and comes over, making sure that youβre okay.

Brandon is launched off, but he slowly gets up and wipes the dirt off his chaps. "I think you still got a bit of that bucking spirit in you, buddy. That's another reason why I like you. Thanks for the ride!" He hugs him a little tigher, but not too much.

Scorchwing smiles, gently licking your cheek as you hug him, completely calm, and even sorry for having thrown you.

"Maybe, maybe deep down, you might have the passion to at least buck or something. Don't feel bad about it, I like riding bucking dragons."

He snorts a little, but he nods as well. He doesnβt like being tied down, and he doesnβt think like aggressive rodeo rides, but he trusts you, and anyone you trust, he can trust.
For now at least.

"Let me tell you this. Our rodeo rides won't be like last time, and you don't have to be tied down like that. You'll be wearing your usual riding tack, and for your bucks, they won't be as hard. It'll be for fun. We can at least try it out." He gets back on the saddle, grabs the reins with one hand, and raises his free hand up. "Ready?"

He nods and moves back to the middle of the arena before going into his usual bucking routine, throwing you in under 8 seconds again.

Brandon rode Scorchwing with ease, and before he could be thrown off, he grabbed on the reins with both hands. "Whoa there! Attaboy. Woo!"

He stops once both hands are on the reigns, slowing to a comfortable trot around the corral as you catch your breath and he catches his.

"See? It wasn't that bad. You can start off slow next time, and our rodeo rides can last a little longer. Just take it easy next time." Brandon then straightened his position has he rode his trotting dragon.

Scorchwing nods and slows to a walk, starting to really be tired.

"But I guess you need to rest up for tonight. Let's go in the barn."

He nods and heads back to the barn.
Itβs only about noon.

Brandon then dismounts and untacks Scorchwing. He leads him inside his stall, and pets him. "Okay buddy, you can relax. I might as well work with another dragon. Hmmm..."

Scorchwing nods and smiles, closing his eyes and napping.
There are the four major options of black, green, brown, and purple.

Brandon decides to work with the black dragon first. Seeing him as big as a clydesdale, he then goes into his stall. "Howdy there. Can I help you for now?"

The black dragon nods and leans his head over to sniff at you.

He pets his head, and strokes his mane carefully. "I bet that you'd carry a plow with that strength! But first, I wanna do something with you. Can you umm- give me a bareback ride?" He pats his bareback, and looks at him kindly.

The large black dragon tilts his head slightly before nodding and heading over to a mounting block.

Brandon steps on the mounting block, and then hops on the dragon's bareback. "Whoa, it's gonna be a bit tough since I don't have a bridle and reins. Well then, giddyup."

He starts forward, moving slower then Scorchwing, but heβs as easy to control, even without a bridle or saddle to keep you seated.

"Heh, I guess you're just like a draft horse then."

He lets out a calm and low rumble, walking around in circles in the barn until directed elsewhere.

"Oh, you're gonna go outside? Okay then, let's ride out there." Brandon is happy with this bareback experience as he looks on at the fields.
