Melinda couldn't believe her luck, finding a bit of wreckage to cling to after her boat broke apart in the storm. She rode it for hours until she collided with dry land. Or as dry as a storm drenched island could be. She stumbled into the shelter of the jungle as the sun was beginning to peek out from the receding storm clouds, not yet reddening towards dusk but soon to be heading blow the horizon. In the jungle the shadows were already lengthening, save for a strange plant that was bathed in sunlight from a gap in the foliage. A sweet aroma seemed to come from the plant.

As Melinda neared it she squinted into it's large central bell to see if there were any fruit inside. Her belly had been rumbling for hours. To her horror however the bell moved, orienting on her like a security camera. From within the bell a long tentacle shot out, wrapping itself around her and upending her body to draw her into the bell feet first ...
